1997 Porsche 993 4S Coupe- 6 Speed Manual
One owner, accident-free, non-smoker, garage kept in La Jolla, California, and meticulously maintained/serviced at
the Porsche of San Diego dealership. All service records available since I took possession of the vehicle and are
logged in the computer system at the Porsche dealership. All routine maintenance performed on time. The oil has
been changed yearly with synthetic oil. This southern California car has never seen snow and has rarely been in the
rain. The vehicle comes with all original owner's manuals and 3 sets of keys. This 6 speed manual 4S runs, drives,
and sounds amazing with the air cooled engine and Porsche sport exhaust system. I thought I would never sell this
car and keep it in the family "forever." Unfortunately, circumstances in my life have changed, and it is time to
sell it for someone else to enjoy. As you can probably tell from the pictures, the vehicle has been well cared for
inside and out. All power options work well: seats, windows, sunroof, and rear spoiler. It was detailed inside and
out last week and is ready for a new owner.
Factory option packages include:
Motor Sound Package
Lumbar Support- Right and Left Side
Infra Red Security System
Xenon Headlights
On Board Computer
Supple Leather Front and Rear
Light Rootwood Shifter/Brake
Technic Package
Porsche Sport Exhaust
Power Seat Package
Digital Sound Package with 490
Light Maplewood Steering Wheel
Factory OEM Parts added after purchase:
2005 18" Wheels
Recent service:
Synthetic Oil change performed yearly throughout life of vehicle
New Battery- June 2016
Brake Fluid- October 2015
Passed CA Smog- October 2015
Sway Bar End Links- October 2014
Other details:
In June 2013, my odometer stopped working at 74.242 miles. I didn't feel that I needed to fix it because I didn't
think I would ever sell it. I have driven the car progressively less and less over the past 5 years and kept rough
track of the mileage when I filled up the gas tank. I estimate that I only drove around 300 miles last year and a
less than 4,000 miles in the past 3.5 years. I have continued to change the oil yearly. You will see all the
service records reflect the 74.242 miles since June of 2013, but there is a Carfax alert regarding the mileage on
my vehicle. When the vehicle last got a smog check, the technician recorded an estimated mileage instead of the
reading on the odometer. Upon the next service the mileage was again recorded from the odometer. This is what
caused the odometer alert on Carfax. I listed the car with a generous estimate of 78,000, but believe that it
actually has less than that. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the mileage.
The front driver's side fender was replaced and repainted in May 2004 after my ex-husband hit it with a golf club
when we got divorced. The work was performed at Phil Thearle's Autowerks in Santee, CA. The vehicle had 61,012
miles at the time, which shows how little I have driven in the past 12 years.

Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine

Sun, 23 Mar 2014

When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.

This Porsche 356 family keeps it outlaw

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

Rod Emory was the founder of Emory Motorsports in Burbank, CA, and the scion to a family tradition of building "outlaw" Porsches that are almost as cool as the cars themselves. The lovingly modified Porsche 356s are lovely artifacts, and their story, along with the story of their builders, is pitch-perfect for the Petrolicious oeuvre of beloved classics.
Tune in for the history lesson, and then stick around for the car candy.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.
