For auction is my 1989 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet. This is the last and best year of the classic 911 body style. Beautiful Grand Prix white with Marine blue interior. Smooth shifting sought after G-50 transmission. Brand new convertible top. (German material) Recent $5,800 major engine out service which included replacing all failure prone head studs with ARP studs. This is a major plus as the factory divilar studs are one of the only weak links of this bulletproof 3.2 liter engine. All gaskets, O-rings, oil return tubes etc. were replaced. No oil leaks. Factory Fuchs forged alloy wheels: 6 x 16 and 8 x 16. Car is in very nice shape and runs great. Very strong. Motor is all stock except for a cat. delete pipe. It has 102800 original miles. Air conditioning blows cold. New AC compressor. No rust or bodywork. Front pan is perfect. Paint looks very nice. No real dings or scratches to speak of. Interior is in very nice shape. Seats are nearly perfect. Carpets are very nice with some minor fading around the rear window area. Steering wheel has almost no wear. Door panels are great. One crack on the drivers door trim piece around the lock button. The original dash pad had a few cracks so a new pad was installed that matches great. All the speakers are original and has an aftermarket CD player. Cruise control is not working. Car was equipped with a power top. The power latches at the windshield header work great but the power retract mechanism is not working properly. The motors are working and all components are there. I just never bothered to fix it as the top goes up and down so easily manually. May just be a cable or something but I'm not sure. I have owned the car for about a year. I thought I would keep it for a long time but I found a 930 turbo so now it has to go. I have tried to describe the car the best I can, but please feel free to call me and ask any questions or stop by to inspect it. My name is Ryan. Ph. 239-218-9114. Please call with questions as I dont want to answer a bunch of emails. Good luck. Its a beautiful rare car and its appreciating in value.

Daughter has great taste, gives stepdad Porsche 914 of his youth
Mon, 14 Jul 2014Children require a ton of sacrifices; even people without kids know that. Whether it's the time to watch a baseball game or the money just to get there, parents have to give up something for the betterment of their offspring. Of course, once a child grows up, it's finally possible to repay mom and dad for all of their hard work. In the case of Kristin Russell and her stepdad, Dave, that involves a surprise 1973 Porsche 914.
Before he got married, Dave had a sweet, white 914. He even had the money saved up to restore it, but spent the cash on the wedding instead. The Porsche languished in the garage until Dave eventually parted it out and sold it off. Years later, Russell wanted to do something to thank her stepdad for all of the things he had done for her and her mom. The only fitting thank you was an identical 914 to the one that he gave up. Scroll down to watch Dave's reaction of getting his dream car as a surprise Father's Day gift.
VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini
Fri, 14 Mar 2014It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
Porsche announces plan to replace 911 GT3 engines
Wed, 19 Mar 2014About a month back, we reported that Porsche was suspending delivery of its 911 GT3 due to reported incidents of the engine bursting into flames. A few days later, Porsche told owners of the new track-ready models not to drive their cars and had their local dealers pick up the cars in question. Just a couple of days ago, we reported that Porsche was working on a fix, and now we have the official details.
Following an internal investigation prompted by two such incidents, Porsche has confirmed that is has identified the problem as resulting "from a loosened screw joint on the connecting rod." The loose connecting rod, Porsche found, damaged the crankcase, which in turn resulted in oil leaking and then - in at least two cases - igniting.
Our source is unaware of Porsche being contacted by GT3 owners concerned about the impact of a replacement engine on their car's collectibility or resale value.
