This is a very original 1986 911 Targa with 97k original miles. The car has two very small areas of bubbling (see pictures), the first area is near the top of the driver’s side door and the other area is at the base of the door jamb (inside), both are very minor. Also, you will note in the picturing that the front and rear dash boards have slightly pulled away from the base. There are no leaks and the garage floor that the car is parked on is clean. The car has been owned by the same person for the past 15 years and service records are available upon request from the service center that the car was maintained. The car runs and drives very well, no smoke before, during and after driving, the engine revs nicely, and the clutch feels new (owner states that clutch was replaced), the brakes are in good order, the gears seems to shift just fine. After a dusting the car (stored in her garage), the car overall is very presentable, the body is straight and sound, the Targa top is in good shape and comes on and off easily. The glass all around is great. The guards red paint is not original but still looks nice. Overall, this is a great air cooled 911 that’s reasonably price without a reserve and a clear title (no leans). I am the smallest car dealer in the country. I love air cooled Porsche cars and have owned and driven them for 32 years. I know where to look for rust bugs and seek out dry cars. Autoblog Podcast #344:
Porsche stalls on Ferrari 458 rival
Mon, 17 Nov 2014A few years ago, reports surfaced that Porsche was planning a new supercar. But the latest intel suggests that the plan has been put indefinitely on the back burner.
The project alternately referred to as 960 or 988 was put forth by CEO Matthias Müller shortly after he assumed control of the German automaker. It called for a mid-engined V8 supercar to slot in between the 911 and the 918 Spyder to take on the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 650S and sister-company Lamborghini's Gallardo and subsequent Huracán.
Now three years since the idea was first mooted, the vehicle has yet to materialize. According to Autocar, Porsche is putting a greater emphasis on refreshing its existing lineup. Which is probably just as well, because the mid-engined supercar would have a heck of a challenge on its hands to differentiate itself in terms of performance from the 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo, which already give the 458 and company a run for their money.
Porsche reveals new LMP1 racecar testing ahead of 2014 Le Mans debut
Wed, 12 Jun 2013Getting ready for its triumphant return to the premier racing class of Le Mans, Porsche has released a handful of images showing its new LMP1 racecar testing. Porsche hasn't run a car in the Prototype class at 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2009, but this racecar - still veiled in secrecy - will be expected to battle against the Audi and Toyota LMP1 Prototypes to help bring Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory.
Aside from knowing that it will use a hybrid powertrain to meet LMP1 rules, there are no other details about the car... including its name or potential sponsors. In the meantime, Porsche has set up a microsite, called Mission 2014, to share its extensive history racing at Le Mans. Also, be sure to check out some of the past videos Porsche has released as it gears up for its reborn LMP1 program.
