Well taken care of by 2nd owner over the last 15+ years. Has some normal wear and tear but nothing major that is know of"

I have been asked by my Aunt to sell my late uncle's 911 convertible. He has loved and cared for this car for over 15 years. It is in great overall condition for its age but like all used cars this age is being sold as is where is how is. The cars odometer stopped working about 5 years ago according to carfax but to be fair the car has rarely been driven the last 3 years as he was fighting cancer and did not have the strength or ability to go far from the house. Based on previous carfax mileage and TX state inspections it looks like he drove it 3-5k a year at most. (he worked from home as well and this was a 4th car for a LONG time). So as a result of this the car is sold unknown miles which it is exempt anyway but just to be clear the odometer is not working currently. Now if I have not scared you off I drove the car a week ago about 25 miles and she was awesome. Ran great had good acceleration braked straight drove straight. There is not any rust that I could see not even bubbling as the car has been a Florida car and then a TX car all its life. The A/C worked and the power windows etc also were perfect. I have to say as the last 2-3 months he was in the hospital I expected the worst when I got there and had jumper cables etc and did not need them. She started right up and ran like a dream. The car is in great shape besides these issues I could see 1. the right rear bumper cap is broken. 2 under the bumper on the lower valence there was some paint missing but not rusted. I suspect that it is an aluminium piece. 3. the Shocks on the hood were weak so you have to hold it up.
The car was driven so there are some minor dings road chips etc BUT nothing that bad just dont want you to expect concourse and find a driver which is what this is a driver. The stereo was replaced with a much newer model that has blue tooth for audio and phone usage. It also has a cd player on it. The Tires are in great shape but their exact age is unknown by myself or my aunt. I know there is a way of decoding the DOT numbers but dont know how. There is extensive history in thr glove box of maintenance and I can point you in the way of the mechanics that did some of the work if needed. To our knowledge this car needs nothing to get in and drive. State inspection is good tags are good glass is good but again you are buying a nearly 30 year old car. The paint is in good overall shape but there is some obvious fade or discoloration from panel to panel, I suspect with a good detail you would be able to have it looking nearly perfect. I know I am being harsh on the car but I nor my Aunt want some one disappointed. I am not sure why the autocheck is not coming up.
I will be glad to respond to any questions on it but it may take me a day or so as I have to get some response from my Aunt etc. I am unable to get pictures easily as I am in Florida and my Aunt is in TX. I will say this if you get to the car and you decide nope not as described I will refund you your money and we will shake hands and be done with it. But having said that dont think that you can bid on it and then go see it and try to knock down on price it is nearly 30 years old dont expect perfection, the price says it is not perfect but is a nice car.

Take a POV hot lap in the Porsche 918 Spyder

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

That title about says it all. This is a hot lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, with Porsche Works Driver Patrick Long at the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder. The camera is basically showing us everything that Long sees, making this not just one of the coolest 918 videos we've seen, but also one of the neatest laps of CoTA.
As Long peers through the bends, so will you. You'll see him fight the wheel, and find out just how difficult it is to hustle this hybrid hypercar around a world-class track at speed. It's pretty darn entertaining. There are also a few scattered shots of the 918's exterior just to break up the interior awesomeness, although we aren't exactly complaining about those. Take a look below for the short video from Porsche.

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.

Porsche 911 RSR stops just long enough to have its photo taken

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

When it comes to Porsche and its rapidly escalating endurance racing program, all eyes may be on the new 919 Hybrid - and with good reason: that's the vehicle with which Porsche will be challenging the likes of Audi and Toyota for wins in the top-tier LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans. But it's the 911 RSR that does and will continue to form the backbone of the factory's effort.
The 470-horsepower racing version of the road-going 911 took a one-two finish in its class at Le Mans last year, and also won its class at the Daytona 24 this past January as well. This year Porsche will field two of them in the WEC, another two in the United SportsCar Championship here in the US and will sell countless more to customer racing teams that will undoubtedly continue to rack up trophies in racing series around the world. This, then, might be a unique chance to see one standing still. Check it out in our gallery of live images above from the Geneva Motor Show.
