This is my 1983 Porsche 911 SC Targa with 165,310 miles that I have owned since 2000. I bought the car with 82,051 miles and have driven it every year - it's a pleasure to drive.  This is a well maintained, solid car that looks sharp - the triple black on this year 911 Targa is an eye-catcher for sure!

I have the service records in a binder that include the ones I received from the prior owner that go back to 1998.  It has been maintained by the Porsche experts at Autobahn Performance out of Peabody, MA since 2002.

The black exterior paint is in decent shape.  It has stone chips on the front end/hood that you'd expect with a car that's driven in New England.  There are a couple of very minor dings and areas that have been touched up.  I have not driven it in the winters and the car is garaged. The Targa top was redone in 2006.  Overall, I'd say the exterior is in good condition.  The pictures you'll see were taken in the late afternoon on August 7th - a couple of days ago.

The interior is in good condition as well.  I had the 2 front seats reupholstered with leather at the same time I did the Targa top.  The primary issue with the interior is that the top of the dashboard has split at the seam - I have included a picture of this.  There is also a minor tear in the driver side car mat.

Mechanically, the brakes were redone in 2011 along with new Kumho tires that were put on at 161,467 miles the same year.  A new battery was put in this year.  The engine had the chain tensioner update done in 1999. The power antenna is stuck in the up position.  The car has a/c, cruise control and headlight washers, but these do not work.  The clock in the dash doesn't work properly - when the car is running it seems to work fine, otherwise it does not.

I am selling this car "as is" and the Buyer is responsible for picking up the car and any transportation needed.

I am happy to answer any questions about this car - please don't hesitate to email me to start, from there I can make myself available by phone.  If you are looking for a solid 911 of this classic style that you want to drive - this is worth a closer look.  In my mind, there is no better time than the late summer/early fall with the Targa top off on the back roads for a cruise - I'll miss that this year when it's gone.

Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.
The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors. Here's the full list of cars taking part.

Porsche 911 GT3 wows the crowds in Geneva

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Porsche has a long and storied history of taking its range-topping 911 sportscar racing, with an enviable record of achievements in tow. The latest machine with which the automaker will take to the track can be seen above: the fifth-generation 2014 911 GT3.
With 475 horsepower strumming through the 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, this is the pinnacle of naturally aspirated performance from Porsche. It can go from 0 to 60 in just 3.3 seconds, hit a top speed of 195 miles per hour and has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven and a half minutes.
A dual-clutch PDK transmission (no standard manual gearbox will be offered) with shorter gearing than lesser 911 models sends power to the rear wheels. Providing forward motion isn't the only thing those rear wheels will be doing - Porsche says the 2014 911 GT3 is fitted with the manufacturer's first active rear-wheel steering.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.
