If you are looking to get into a clean, fast, fun 911, look no further. This 1982 Porsche 911SC is all that and
more. India Red over tan interior is classic 1980s Porsche, and one look at this car will have you convinced. The
car is in very good condition inside and out with just enough wear to make it a worry free driver. There are
numerous tiny rock chips in the front end (a factory bra is included, but I guess it was an afterthought), and a
couple of places where you'll find touch up. The tail is factory Porsche and excellent. The interior presents very
nicely. Seats have no tears with only very slight wear visible at the driver's bolster, and feel great. The dash
has a separation and one crack. Steering wheel has no cracks in the leather. The carpet has changed color over the
years but is fully intact. The headliner has not fallen, even around the sunroof! The factory tool kit and Porsche
air compressor are still in the trunk.
This 911 has had some performance modifications in the past including being lowered onto externally adjustable Koni
shocks and a very quick sport clutch. Wheels were upgraded to 16x7 and 16x8 Fuchs with classic polished lips and
petals. Driving the car feels VERY quick. It handles like it's on rails and accelerates faster than my Carrera 3.2.
We've put some miles on the car and have done nothing but grin ear to ear when behind the wheel. It runs great,
handles great and looks amazing. You can find a low mile garage queen that hasn't been driven, and you'll spend
$5000 right away on seals and dried out rubber. This car has been driven all its life and is ready for more fun on
the open road. The 911SC is known to be the most durable engine Porsche ever built, and this one shows its
strength.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

There's a Porsche Cayman under here somewhere

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

What we have here is the work of Dubai tuner Royal Customs that is controversial even beyond its styling. The Middle East aftermarket house says it spent fourteen months developing a bodykit for the Porsche Cayman, and the results seem to be aimed at those who wish their coupe were a 918 Spyder - the nose, strake-filled and widened rear fender, carbon fiber wing and massive diffuser all cribbing some from Stuttgart's new hybrid supercar.
Even without a buyer, the Alpha One Concept is already controversial. When WorldCarFans posted on the Royal Customs car recently, German tuner Alpha-N Performance wrote in alleging that the Dubai package copies their design from two years ago, which was also called the Alpha One, a design with which it's clear the Dubai Alpha One shares numerous cues. We asked Royal Customs about its relationship to the Alpha One car, we were told, "Yes, there is a lot we can say about the remarkable similarities all of which will be explained by our press release by Mr. Emil from Autogespot. Please wait for the official release and you will have the full exciting story. It's an 'actual success story' and not a 'replication' story."
The response is referring to an "extensive report" on the car coming out of Autogespot. Royal Customs doesn't have the Alpha One Concept on its site yet, so we're still missing quite a few details on it, such as whether the Porsche engine has been given a similarly 918-ish workover. We do know that the company says each car takes 30 days to build and it will only build three of them, which is a number that should satisfy any haters and, even more so, its buyers. You can decide which side of the fence you're on by having a close look at it in the gallery above.

Porsche Macan teaser reveals unique quad-LEDs

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

In truth, all-but-undisguised prototypes for the upcoming Porsche Macan compact crossover have been spotted galavanting all around the globe for some time now, but even the least-camouflaged examples have been caught wearing eyepatches covering their headlights and taillights. A dark new teaser image from Porsche clues us in to why that is - the baby Cayenne is getting unique quad-LED peepers up front.
Porsche has been hinting at lighting innovations in its production cars through recent concept reveals, including the stunning Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo showcar from last year's Paris Motor Show. The wagonized Panamera also featured four-point LED arrays up front, as well is in the rear, so it seems likely that this lighting will become a Porsche design signature going forward.
Powerpoint slides leaked from a recent dealer meeting suggest the Macan S will arrive packing a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, while the Macan Turbo will boast a 3.6-liter force-fed unit, with both models receiving seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearboxes. Pricing is expected to range from $52,000 for the S model to $75,000 for the Turbo.
