You're bidding on a 1977 Porsche 911S that I bought cause I was looking for a mechanically strong car and didn't care too much about the cosmetics. It fires up immediately and runs strong all day. It is a ten-foot car though-- looks great from ten feet, but as you approach some blemishes become apparent. Has some tears in the interior. It's just a hell of a good driver, not a show queen.

If you want more info: This car runs strong and had a compression test at 154,000mi the individual compressions were: 140, 155,159, 140, 147, and 154 psi. Over the 7000 mi I've owned it, I've had the oil changed twice and it's due for another one along with a 12,000mi tune up. The tires were also replaced when I purchased the car. I have records for the car going back eight years and if you're interested, please email. Had the wheel bearings and front brakes done at about 155,000mi. It does have A/C and cruise control, but neither work. It has had the engine upgrades done (so it doesn't self destruct) and is otherwise very original. Lights, windows, sunroof work. Any questions, email. If you're local, you can schedule a test-drive. If you have no feedback, don't bid without contacting me.

The car was originally purchased new in the Bay Area and I believe that it's spent its entire life in California as there is no visible rust. I'm not a Porsche guy (don't care for rear engine) and didn't expect to like driving it as much as I do, but it is very well balanced and easy to drive in the twisties. I'm selling it just so I can buy another car for my next adventure. This gorgeous old Porsche is sold as is, where is, with no explicit or implied warranty and I reserve the right to end this auction early if it's purchased locally.

Porsche creates 'symphony' with seven generations of 911

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

At Porsche, things are getting a bit wild on the 50th anniversary year of the 911. To celebrate it (again) in yet another inventive way, the automaker has called on the musical talents of seven generations of the rear-engine sports car (please suspend your disbelief, at least for the length of the video, and assume that generation two started in 1974) to perform a song that has eight notes. We're wondering which 911 is pulling double duty...
But before the Porsches are lined up for the short recital, the drivers let loose and drift them inside a hangar. Watch the video below, and tell us in comments which was more impressive: the song or the drifting.

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Porsche in Paul Walker fatal accident was traveling over 100 mph before crash

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

The Porsche Carrera GT involved in the November crash that killed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker and racer Roger Rodas was traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour before Rodas lost control for "unknown reasons," according to a report from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office that has been acquired by The Hollywood Reporter.
Once control was lost, the Porsche spun, hit a curb and then impacted a tree and a light post, then it spun 180 degrees and hit another tree before erupting in flames, the report said. Neither Walker nor Rodas were under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident, according to toxicology reports conducted by the coroner.
As for the future of the Fast and Furious franchise, a separate by The Hollywood Reporter claims director James Wan, writer Chris Morgan and Universal Studios will move forward with the seventh installment in the franchise, which was only partially completed when Walker was killed.
