1976 PORSCHE 911S TARGA. MATCHING NUMBERS CALIFORNIA CAR WITH ONLY 124,000 DOCUMENTED MILES.

The original owner was a Malibu doctor who purchased the car with 1076 miles on it from Atlas Porsche Audi on 9/25/76. He even purchased the extended warranty. He then had all the service stamps done by the dealer up to 8/18/77 and 16,176 miles. After that Red Line in Santa Monica took over to 8/3179 and 45,000 miles. A truly fastidious owner. The car was always garaged and rarely used up until his passing in 2007.

The second owner spent over $10,000 bringing this time capsule back to its as new glory as by then it had sat for some time. The original engine was removed and resealed along with the carrera tensioner and turbo valve cover upgrade. The fuel system was totally gone through with new pump and accumulator . New heat exchangers were fitted. The brake calipers were rebuilt, new cables, hoses and filters were fitted. The exterior only was repainted in the factory colour of 436 to a very nice standard. The front seats only were retrimmed. Everything else on this car is original and untouched. It has never had any rust or accident damage. It has never left Southern California as evidenced by the blue plate and service records.

The car runs drives and looks like new in all respects. All manuals, jack, spare and tools included. Spare keys still in the porsche leather pouch. All in all an incredibly original car with great options and paperwork ready for the next 40 years of appreciation.

Petrolicious explores long-term living with Porsche's 914/6

Thu, 15 May 2014

After its last video starred none other than the spectacular Ferrari 250 GTO, where was there for the video team at Petrolicious to go? Certainly, in the realm of classics, there are only a few other vehicles that can match the badge and pedigree of the ultra-rare Ferrari. Maybe a Jaguar D-Type or an Aston Martin DBR1? No, this latest video doesn't star either of those British icons. It stars an oft-misunderstood, occasionally derided entry from Germany's most sporting manufacturer - Porsche.
Yes, we've gone from a Ferrari 250 GTO to a Porsche 914/6. As is often the case with Petrolicious, though, the story told about the car by its owner are often more important than the make or model of car being highlighted. That's exactly the case here, as Jack Griffin talks about the 38 years he's spent with this particular Porsche.
Having been born into the Volkswagen fold and introduced to Porsche in the best way possible - behind the wheel of a 356 - Griffin has some interesting stories (including his attempt at running the 12 Hours of Sebring), and he knows a fair bit about some of the 914's attributes.

New Porsche 4-cyl engines to range from 1.6L to 2.5L

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

Recent rumors of a turbocharged, flat-four-engine from Porsche for the Boxster (pictured testing above), Cayman and maybe other models go back over a year. The latest scuttlebutt indicates that there could be three variants on the horizon with 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.5-liter displacements and power as high as 360 horsepower.
Car magazine in the UK claims to have access to the specifications for the project and thinks the 2.0- and 2.5-liter versions are guaranteed for production for the Boxster and Cayman. However, it believes a question mark still looms over the 210-hp 1.6L because the engine would go into a new, smaller sports car that still doesn't have a green light for production.
Regardless of displacement, the new fours would be turbocharged and direct-injected. The 2.0-liter would produce around 286 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 2.5-liter would make about 360 hp and 347 lb-ft. Earlier reports pegged some parts sharing with the current flat-six.

The 2014 Ruf RCT offers rear-drive action with 911 Turbo fun

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Ruf has 37 years of experience of turning Porsches into even higher performance machines. For the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, it's unveiling the RCT, or Ruf Carrera Turbo, which offers power to split the difference between Porsche's 911 Turbo and Turbo S models.
The RCT starts with a unique body kit with a new front air dam and drastically changed rear deck that combines both a small spoiler and air intake. Power is provided by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter flat-six with 525 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque paired to either a seven-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch transmission. That gives the Ruf a 5-hp and 15-lb-ft advantage over Porsche's own Turbo but is still less powerful than the full Turbo S. The RCT sprints to 62 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 196 mph.
However, the Ruf's big advantage is that it offers buyers the choice of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while Stuttgart's turbo models are only available spinning all four wheels. The RCT can also offers upgrades like an integrated roll cage and custom suspension packages, should the buyer be so inclined to splash out on racing kit.
