1975 911 Carrera Targa, 63,000 documented miles from new; factory gold Fuchs with factory Carrera gold side
lettering delete; every book and maintenance record from new; COA and original window sticker; matching numbers;
very recent (500 miles) top end and clutch ( no bad studs); chain tensioner update; SSI heat exchangers; recent
Koni shocks; Mocal oil cooler with dual fans; pop off valve; turbo valve covers and tie rods; Griffith's upgraded
a/c with 3 condensers (blows cold in the Florida summer); original working Blaupunkt; Hella H4s; all newly rebuilt
CIS; NOS Marchal fog lights; Nardi steering wheel; recent Targa top rebuild; new rear Targa bar seal; new brakes,
wheel bearings and tires (Pirelli P6000); rebuilt pedal assembly; very recent (500 miles) re-anodized and and
repainted wheels (to factory specs) by Wiedman's Wheels in California; very recent Palo Alto refinsh of all dials
and clock; entirely new hand stitched German leather and carpets by a concours winner; all original tools and
owners manual; one minor respray for chips, a small dent in the hood and slight weathering on top of the tail. All
original parts with the exception of the steering wheel are available.
The '74 and '75 911 Carrera are both rare models and much more collectible than other 70's models. The '74 has the
"duck tail" and the '75 has the "tea table tail" (similar to the Turbo.) No other 70's models have factory tails.
No other Carrera's were made until the '80s when almost all models were then called a Carrera. (Of course there was
a 356 Carrera.) A reliable source, (Fahrzeugentifikation), shows that only 1046 Carrera's were produced in '74-'75
out of a total of 6,234 91l's. Only 518 Carrera's were made in 1975 and only 97 were the Targa model.
NADA high retail on this car is $72,400.00. This is a perfect example of a high retail vehicle which NADA describes
as one in "excellent overall condition." A high retail car is not a concours car and definately not just a driver.

Porsche revisits its remarkable SC East African Safari rally car
Wed, 09 Jul 2014Porsche and motorsports just seem to go hand-in-hand. The brand has defined itself by its ability to compete on the track with the concept that racing bred better road cars. While we are used to seeing 911s speeding along circuits around the world, the rear-engine icon's success in rallying is somewhat less well known. The Porsche Museum aims to fix that by highlighting a 911 SC that competed in the 1978 East African Safari Rally.
The 911 rally car definitely projects a '70s vibe. You wouldn't see too many racecars with a pink brush bar sliding through the stages these days, but it looks amazing. Its bank of spotlights and two, giant, hood-mounted horns definitely give away the car's purpose. Best of all, that fantastic Martini livery defines the looks of Porsche racers from this era.
The 911 SC performed well in the East African Safari Rally, but some suspension damage meant that this particular one never raced again. It's been a part of the Porsche Museum ever since. Scroll down to learn a little more about one part of the brand's off-road legacy.
Porsche recalling 4,400 911, Boxster and Cayman models over hood latches
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Porsche has issued a "precautionary" and voluntary safety recall affecting some 4,400 sports cars across the globe. Here in the United States, the recall includes 1,382 911, Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes, all of which are from model years 2014 and 2015.
Porsche will be replacing the lock bracket for the front cargo area (the frunk) after internal testing revealed that, while the vehicles meet "strength requirements," specific parts might not meet the company's quality standards throughout the vehicle's life. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Owners of the affected cars will be notified within 60 days and will need to report to a nearby dealer for a free repair, which should take about 30 minutes.
Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?
Wed, 18 Dec 2013Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
