1970 911 TARGA 1600CC 356 MOTOR INSTALLEDBY PREVIOUS OWNER. FRONT. REAR AND PASS SIDE SIDE GLASS NEED REPLACEMENT.PASSENGER DOOR SLIGHTLY BENT FROM A TREE INJURY, DOOR OPENS &CLOSES OK. CAR IS UNIQUE IN THE ASPECT OF THE MOTOR. INSTALLING A 1600 356 MOTOR BACK IN THOSE DAYS WAS PREFERRED BY MANY AS HOSRSEPOWER GAINS WERE BETTER WITH THE 4 CYLINDER., SEEMS THE EPA SYSTEM OF THE 1800CC MOTOR HAD LESS POWER. INTERIOR IS ORIGINAL AND HAS THE ADJUSTABLE SEATS WITH HEAD RESTS. CARPETING NEEDS REPLACEMENT. REAR SEATS ARE BAD. ALL INTERIOR PANELS WILL NEED REPLACEMENT.ALL RUBBER SEALS ON WINDOWS AND DOORS WILL NEED REPLACING.THE SHEET METAL DAMAGE IS TO THE FLOORS AND THE REAR DOOR SILLS. ROCKERS SEEM TO HAVE BEEN RELACED AT SOME POINT. BODY IS IN FAIR OVERALL CONDITION. NO EVIDENCE OF COLLISION ,JUST SOME SMALL DENTS. ENGINE COVER HAS A DENT ON THE RIGHT LOWER CORNER.HOOD HAS A LITTLE RUST HOLE ON THE NOSE,BUT NOT RUSTED OUT INSIDE MUCH AT ALL. INSIDE THE SMUGGLERS BOX AND TRUNK AREA SEEM TO HAVE SURVIVED. AREA BELOW FUEL TANK HAS BEEN FIBERGLASSED ,CANT SEE THE RUST. FUEL TANK ROTTEN.WHEEL HOUSINGS AND TORSION MOUNT POINTS FRONT AND REAR LOOK GOOD. VERTICAL PILLARS OF CHASSIS ALSO LOOK GOOD. SEALING AREA WHERE REAR WNDOW FITS UP HAS SOME MINOR RUST HOLES AT THE BASE OF THE TARGA BAR. THE SHEET METAL IS ALL COMMON ON THIS ONE. FLOORS OF COURSE ARE THE WORST.TUNNEL IS GOOD.SEAT TRACK MOUNTS ARE GOOD AND SOLID. OVERALL WORTH THE EFFORT TO GET GRINDING AND WELDING.THIS CAR IS A JEWEL IN THE ROUGH,BUT IT WILL COME AROUND WITH SOME EFFORT.

2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel is something to torque about
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Porsche has been in the business of slaying sacred cows for the better part of a decade, from venturing into the SUV space with the Cayenne to the four-door realm with its Panamera hatchback. And if those vehicles didn't leave brand purists apoplectic enough, Porsche has been adding diesel and hybrid power to its portfolio, thought to this point, neither alt-fuel motivator has made its way into the brand's sports car lineup.
Today's Frankfurt Motor Show effectively marks the second-generation of diesel power in the Panamera, and this updated 3.0-liter V6 features 300 horsepower (50 ponies more than last year) and a whopping 479 pound-feet of torque, available from 2,500 rpm. That power is achieved with a new higher-pressure, water-cooled turbo and redesigned engine internals that include a new crankshaft and pistons. The newfound increase is said to raise top speed to 161 miles per hour from 152, and drop the car's 0-62 mph time from 6.8 seconds down to 6.0. It also figures to be a better handler, with a new torque-vectoring rear differential borrowed from its gas-powered brethren and a reworked transmission for crisper shifts. The suspension has also been retuned, along with the updated 2014 visuals first revealed at April's Shanghai Motor Show.
No word yet on the North American sales prospects of this diesel Panamera, but we imagine that depends in part on how well the Cayenne diesel is selling.
DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper
Tue, 20 Aug 2013Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.
Porsche Cayenne spied unconstrained by camouflage
Thu, 05 Jun 2014Meet the facelifted Porsche Cayenne. Our eagle-eyed spy shooters captured this example of Porsche's freshened SUV virtually devoid of camo, giving us our clearest look yet at what the eventual mid-cycle work will do to the strong-selling Cayenne.
The overall changes do, indeed, look minor, with a reprofiled intake being the most obvious item. The headlights are still covered, so we don't know what kind of jeweling has been done, but the shape does appear identical to the current model. Overall, the changes appear totally in line with a mid-cycle refresh.
As we explained previously, a plug-in Cayenne is on the way. It will join a crop of engines that is likely to be similar to what's on offer today, with naturally aspirated, turbocharged, hybrid and diesel variants released over time.
