Tucson, Arizona, United States

1958 Porsche 356a coupe. Matching number, CofA on hand. I have owned this car for 6-7 years. It is an Arizona car with the exception of 2 years in San Jose Ca. It is NOT rusted! I am the third owner, the first was an engineer for Hughs Aircraft, kept a hand written log book of all the fuel/maint/repairs to the car. This log will be included. Along with the tool kit/jack/all glovebox books.Sometime around 1977 the car was hit in the driver door resulting in a replacement door and a repaint. A dried-up can of the paint will be included. About this time the car was taken off the road, and it changed hands, I don't know why. The second owner a father/son never drove the car. When I found it, it was sitting on the top of a clean room inside a warehouse, I saw it from the bottom!

The engine was sitting beside it and the original interior was still in it. They got it down for me using a huge forklift. It had been there, inside, out of the sun and weather for about 30 years!

I then set about putting it back of the road: I pulled, cleaned and rebuilt the fuel tank, petcock, lines, pump and carbs(the orig. NDIX with mesh filters) I also did the brakes with fresh master cylinder, reservoir, hoses, wheel cylinders and wheel bearing/grease seals. There are fresh shocks installed front and rear, along with some...not all, susp rubber/bushings. I pulled the glass and replaced the body/window rubbers and added a new Porsche windshield. I n sent the seats to Tony at Autobahn in San Diego for a complete redo and new interior kit including oatmeal squareweave and new black floor mats. I have and will include remnants of the orig interior including the orig. tan floor mats. This car never had a radio and the original ivory radio delete plate is installed(not a repop) There are 5 fresh tires on orig. date matched(4-58, KPZ) wheels. I have receipts for EVERTHING I have done. Please call me with any specific questions. . I also have a 1965 356c, 1967 912, 1973 911t with sunroof/sportseats, 1966 230sl, 1967 250sl,1973 280sel 4.5 for sale Keith 520-404-2875

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."

Porsche planning jacked-up 911 Safari? [w/poll]

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

The Porsche 911 may, for some, be the quintessential sportscar. And that typically means keeping it on paved roads and racing circuits. But there's a proud history to taking the Elfen off-road that traces back to specially-prepared 911s (like the one pictured above) which Porsche fielded in rallies in the late '70s and early '80s. And now Porsche is reportedly preparing to tap back into that history with a new off-road 911 model, according to the Auto Bild Motor Revue.
Tipped to be called the 911 Safari, the special variant would be based on the Carrera 4 but upgrade with bigger tires fitted to a beefed-up suspension with higher ground clearance and underbody skid plates. The model is expected to be presented initially as a concept at the Beijing Motor Show next April. But if enough interest is expressed - particularly from buyers in developing markets where the roads might not be as smooth as those to which North American and European drivers have become accustomed - Stuttgart could put it into production in 2016, when the current 991 is expected to get a mid-cycle refresh.

Porsche acquires Kyalami race track at auction

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

With more victories under its belt than any other manufacturer, you could say, in a figurative sense at least, that Porsche owns countless numbers of race tracks around the world. But here we're not talking about figuratively owning a track - we're talking about literally buying one. And Porsche has just bought Kyalami.
Kylamai, for those unfamiliar, is a grand prix circuit near Johannesburg in South Africa. Between 1967 and 1985, and again in '92 and '93, it was home to the South African Grand Prix, and has since hosted a variety of local and lower-level international races, but apparently fell on hard times. As a result, the track's owners - listed as Universal Property Professionals - put it up for auction. Bidders had to deposit four million Rand (about $380k) to participate, but after just 50 seconds, the auction was over.
The winning bid was placed - via telephone from the local press launch for the Macan - by Porsche South Africa CEO Toby Venter, who bid a reported 205 million rand (about $19.5 million) to take over the complex. The German automaker's South African division reportedly intends to keep the track open for racing, but could also be expected to use the facility for testing, customer track days and such moving forward.
