I have for sale an extremely nice 1992 Porsche 359 D replica, complete with roll up windows.  I purchased the car for its original owner who had purchased it at an auto show in California in the early 1990's from a Canadian manufacturer.  The car was and still is equipped with a Kilometer Odometer and Speedometer. (This is easily changed out with a US gauge)  He kept the car in California for a number of years and then drove it to his second home in Oregon.  From then on it became the weekend country club and dinner date car.  The car is titled as a 1963 Volkswagon.  I called Henry at Intermecannica to see if it was one of his cars.  I sent him numerous pictures and he surmized that it was, although he could not completely explain why the VIN # did not start with IM.  It has the tubular frame, the larger, wider foot area in the cabin for the driver and passenger, the trigger short shifter, the correct door panels, the hartz cloth top, the hartz cloth boot, etc, etc. It even has windshield washers that actually work.  A current style radio is installed with the blue tooth option.  It has the normal chips and small scratches that are associated with a car of its age.  I have owned a 2007 Speedster replica by a California manufacturer and there is no comparison.  This car is as solid as a rock and I would not hesitate driving it anywhere.  The doors close like a real German car.  The windows roll up and down flawlessly and the top actually fits like a glove.  It has a 1600 VW engine with twin carbs that starts effortlessly and performs as it should.  There is a small oil leak that I suspect would be corrected by a valve cover gasket.  It is very minimal and usually disappears the more it is driven.  All of the lights, turn signals etc. work as they should.  The heater and blower work very well.  Also included with the sale is an original style shifter and 4 chrome wheels.  Please call Steve at 913-634-0040 with questions.  I will answer them the best that I can.  I am only selling because of an opportunity to purchase a late model C4S from a local PCA member. Take a look at the pics and call with questions.  Thanks for looking.

Autocar pits Porsche 911 Turbo S against Formula 4 racer

Fri, 20 Jun 2014

There is a long-running argument among performance car fans: power vs. weight. In one corner you get cars generally with small engines making modest numbers but able to corner like they are telepathic, and in the other there are big thumping mills that are rocketships in a straight line but lumber in the turns. Autocar takes an interesting look this continuum in a recent video pitting a 552-hp Porsche 911 Turbo S against a 185-hp Formula 4 racecar. It hopes to find whether the Porsche's huge power advantage is enough to defeat the better grip and aero offered by the nimble racer.
There's no doubt that the Porsche is an utterly fantastic road car. The 911 Turbo looks mean with all of those intakes to suck in cool air, and it backs up the posture with huge amounts of grip available thanks to its all-wheel drive-system. However, at 3,538 pounds, it's a bit of a porker compared to the 1,135-pound Formula 4 car. The open-wheel car boasts just a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder from Ford and a six-speed sequential-manual gearbox, but it has loads of downforce to make up for it.
It shouldn't be a surprise that the formula car wins in the corners. After all, that's what it's made for. So do you think the massive horsepower superiority of the Porsche is enough to even the playing field? Scroll down to watch the video and find out, and even if you're not curious of the winner the 911 does some mean powerslides.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.

Magnus Walker soliloquizes in his Porsche 911 at night

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

Magnus Walker, a prolific Los Angeles clothing designer who has also carved out a respected spot for himself in Porsche world, has had yet another video made about him and his sizable Porsche collection. In this latest video, Hong Kong-based Obscura magazine focuses its video cameras on Walker and his 1971 Porsche 911 track car (yes, the one that appeared on Jay Leno's Garage) as he speeds around Downtown LA and Little Tokyo late at night.
We've heard Walker's story many times before. He's not like the average Porsche owner, perhaps a tad more passionate than most, and he builds 911s like he designs clothes: his way. Sure, we might be a little envious, but can you blame us? View this very slick and entertaining nighttime video entitled Disturbing The Peace below.
