76 Pro Street Trans Am
This is my 76 Trans Am Pro Street car. I bought this car as an old stripped out forgotten drag car. The body was very solid being it was used only as a drag car since 1983. It was then stripped out and left for dead in 1995. I found it on E-Bay in 2001 and started to bring it back to life. The only thing I got was the shell, no wiring, brake lines, gas line or anything. I first started by striping down the under side of the car. I redid the rear frame using an S&W Race cars 4 link with a Super car rear setup with 4:56 Gears and Wilwood 4 piston disk brakes. Carrera Chrome Adjustable coil over shocks. I had a custom aluminum 15.8 gallon fuel cell built. For the front suspension I used Jim Meyer Race Cars Tubular front control arms with Hal Corp adjustable coil overs and Wilwood 4 piston caliper disk brakes. The interior was all custom built by me. It has a fiberglass dash and console. The dash needs a bit of finish sanding to be complete. I was planning on painting it to match the outside of the car. It also has a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. And a 10 point roll cage. I also have new tan JMS racing seats for it with 5 point harnesses. I have new door panels that will need to be dyed to match the seats. I also have new carpet still in the box. All the Autometer gauges will be included. The car rolls on 33x21.50 Mickey Thomson Tires with Weld 15x15 wheels in the rear and 26x7 up front. I am now running a new LS6 454 complete with Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, Full roller cam' Crane roll rockers and gear drive. It has an 8-71 Supercharger with two 750 double pumper blower carbs. It's pushing 800HP. The transmission is a TCI TH400 Full manual w/ reverse valve body. It has a Denny's Drive Shafts Super Car drive shaft in it. The motor is brand new over $15,000 invested. The motor and transmission can be bought with the car if interested. But not included in this listing. I am including the headers and exhaust if you want them. Theres just way to much to list here about the car. It was built with the best of everything. If you have any questions just send me a message. I have 100's of pictures of building the car which I will send to you. Heres a video of the car as it was being built. I have a Youtube video of the build if anyone wants it message me. The motor and trans will be removed when auction is complete and deposit of $1000 is received. Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
