1980 trans am black with tan interior. car was recently restored by professional body and paint tech.this car was completely rust free with its original paint, before the restoration.over all it was a very nice car to start with. the paint was dark blue met. but i decided to change it to black.the blue just didn't look right with the gold bird. so now its black and gold. i was going for the special edition look. i didn't put the pin stripes on but i do have them and will put them on if the buyer wants.before i got the car the engine and transmission where rebuilt. when the motor was rebuilt they disconnected the a.c. and the cruse control. i don't know why. all the front end parts where replaced, tie rods, ball joints, sway bar bushings, upper and lower control arms, springs, shocks, and the entire exhaust system, tires, rims, the head liner and carpet. it does need a alinement and the carpet has a few stains on it that could be covered up with a new pair of floor mats. it has only a couple thousand miles put on it since all that work was done. when i got the car i took all the interior parts out and had them dyed at a upholstery shop. the interior looks amazing. its the nicest trans am interior i have ever seen.the tan goes very well with the black.i did all the body and paint work myself at my body shop. i have been working in body shop for the last 20 years. the body only had small dings down both sides and every panel needed to be realigned. i took all the body panels off and painted inside of everything then put everything back together, lined it all up and got everything to open and close the way it should, then painted the outside. the body is straight as arrow and the paint laid down perfect. no runs or dry spots anywhere looks fantastic. none of the dark blue is to be found anywhere. i put all new graphics on it and all new seals. t-top,doors, trunk, and hood seals. new hood insulation and the under side of the hood was painted flat black. i put new grills, front emblem and gas door on it. i put a few hundred miles on it and realized it was running with a high idle and was under powered. my friend who owns a local muffler man, rebuilt the carb. put new plug wires in and fixed a exhaust leak. since then the car has come alive. the turbo is working great and the carb. is tuned to perfection. the car is quiet and purrs like a kitten. it has excellent throttle response and the turbo kicks you back in the seat. it has a really cool sound too. it is such a great running car. the turo light work the way they should. i also removed the volts gauge and installed a turbo gauge in its place.it fits in nice and looks factory.all the other gauges work great. it has a newer c.d. player and all four speakers. it sounds great and everything is mounted where it should be and looks factory.i listed this car before just to test the waters and lowered the reserve to a selling price.this is a very nice car priced to sell. please don't bid on this car unless you plan on buying it. i don't have time for games. if you want more pictures just email me your email address and i can send you pictures.if you have questions you can email me your phone number and i will call you. please read the entire description before emailing me.  thanks

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
