Up for sale is my stock rust free 1980 Pontiac Trans Am that I’ve owned since 1981. It is a non-turbo 301-4bbl with a turbo 350 automatic transmission with 4 wheel disc brakes, P/W, PDL, tilt wheel and intermittent wipers. I do have the original build sheet. The gauges and the clock all are functioning. The car has just-under 35000 original miles, it has been garaged and covered for the entire time I have owned it. The car runs fine and the transmission shifts fine. Over the years I have installed a Modine 3 row HD radiator, rebuilt the original Quadrajet carburetor, replaced the water pump, upper hose, lower hose, belts, silicone heater hoses, after market catalytic converter and after-market Walker exhaust, overhauled the right rear caliper and replaced the front shocks. The tires on the car are Goodyear Eagle GT’s 215/70-15 that are about 20 years old they have plenty of rubber and show no signs of dry rot but I would recommend replacing them. The A/C still works and still has R-12 refrigerant in it. The dash has not been cut, it does not have the original 8 track AM/FM radio it has a Blaupunkt cassette AM/FM radio and the stock speakers have been replaced. The car only saw snow a few times way back in the early eighties it was never a daily driver, I used an old Malibu as a daily driver. The car was put away for about 10 years in 1985 when I bought my house, after I could afford to, I registered it and it has just been used since then for the occasional cruise and occasional car show and on one of those cruises I got caught in the rain. I’ve been running Mobil 1 for about 10 years now and change it once a year regardless of miles of which I only put on a couple of hundred miles a year. As I said before the car hasn't seen the elements in a long time. The paint on the car is 90% original I repainted the spoiler end caps about 15 years ago along with the spoilers in front of the rear wheels. The car does have some dings and scratches but it is still very presentable. Please keep in mind most of the paint is almost 35 years old and is showing some wear and tear and it doesn’t really show in the pictures. On the roof above the drivers area there was a scratch I attempted to repair and blend the paint and the blend is not perfect but it’s hard to see in pictures it’s about 14” x 8”, after all was said and done I should have just left the scratch. If the car is sold, I will only accept a bank check and I will release the title and car when I get confirmation from my bank that the funds have cleared. The buyer is responsible for pick up and or shipping of the vehicle. I’m trying to represent the car as honest as I can. I would recommend inspecting the car before bidding if possible. The car is being sold as-is and there is no warranty. If someone Buys it Now or a best offer is accepted there will be no inspecting of the car and then backing out, you are committed to buy. If someone is not willing to accept these terms please do not waste your time and my time. Please be advised that the listing may be pulled do to the car being listed locally. I’ll answer any questions the best I can, thanks for looking. |

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction
Tue, 08 Apr 2014Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
