NUT-SHELL:::  This is a good looking car, I consider it a very solid car. Its a nice drive and enjoy quality car, by this I mean it looks good, it runs good and it drives good, its plenty good to enter you local car show and have fun, its just not perfect, its no roll out of the trailer show queen with a $20,000 paint job.

THIS IS A NICE CAR THAT WILL MAKE 99% OF THE PEOPLE HAPPY!

May name is Ron Watson and I live in east Tennessee.

I do not show cars on Sunday, I worship, I rest, I spend time with my family, I'm 66 years old and I need a day off, I will be happy to show you the car 6 days a week if you make an appointment, if you call my cell telephone and don't get me I'm meeting with someone, driving of eating a meal, please leave a voice mail and I'll call you back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VIN    2W87K9L157488         MILEAGE: 7815 showing today and you can add another 100,000

WILL I SELL THIS CAR DIRECT OFF EBAY MOTORS? Yes, I not crazy I want to sell the car, I know lots of you guys are not registered on ebay and just use it as a research tool. I'm not worried about feedbacks and all the ebay rules and such.

HISTORY: We bought this car at a classic car auction in Chattanooga, it is a Alabama car.

TITLE: Clear Alabama title in hand with a VIN that matches. It will be transferred from me as a dealer, I don't have a showroom, but I do have dealers license to keep things legal.

IF YOU COME AND JUDGE THIS CAR LIKE ITS IN A NATIONAL CAR SHOW TO WIN FIRST PRIZE, IT WILL NOT BE A 100 POINT CAR. IT WILL BE A SUPER NICE CAR THAT LOOKS PLENTY GOOD FOR THE CAR SHOW. The reason I'm telling you this is that I get people come and inspect cars and look for a speck like its suppose to be a perfect car. I will tell you the things you will find if you really take the time to read my listing. Beware of pictures, defects melt together. This is a very nice car, but face it, you won't get a perfect car for this price, you should get a nice car.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?   I consider this a good solid car.  The frame, the floors, the trunk, under the rear window all look good. The floors look original and good, the under side in not detailed slick and shinny, but its solid, it has never had real thick under coating so you can see the panels, it does have a very light factory or dealership under coating.

DOES THE CAR HAVE BONDO/BODY FILLER? Of course it does, have you ever seen one that has none, I haven't, but it has no bubbles, no swelled places, its about as good as you will find. If somebody tells you their car has none, you had better be alert. This is a solid car, it is no rust bucket.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find and none stated on the title.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell.

PAINT:    I consider the paint extra nice driver quality, the car is a real good looking car, it shines good, it has no dents, it is straight to look down the sides. No rust bubbles in the paint, it is base coat clear coat paint. Domr chips that have been touched up and some small defects/flaws you have to look for, "its black and every little thing shows up", the back bumper cover has some scuffs.  The paint would be considered nice, in fact I would consider it very nice for a car this price range. I am super critical on my description on paint, I have guys to come and look at a $15,000 car and want a $20,000 show queen paint job. Most people judge a car first by the paint, I think first judgment should be rust problems.

CHROME: Not chrome, but what there is decent.

INTERIOR:   Good tan interior, no real wear, the carpet is good, the headliner is good, the seats good, the door panels good and the dash is good.

UNSERSIDE: Nice and solid, but not show deatailed and not covered up with thick under-coating.

GLASS: The side windows roll up and down decent, the windshield is clear, the drivers side window has marks where the old weather stripping rubbed it, the weather stripping is now new.

ENGINE: The engine is a good running 6.6 403, it has a 4 barrel carb, it has no knocks, no rattles and no blue smoke. Its a good engine!

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Nice sounding exhaust system, it has the deep Muscle Car sound.

TRANSMISSION:    Good shifting 3 speed automatic, its a Turbo 350 that has been rebuilt.

REAR-END: No whines or growls, its looks original and has good highway gears, it is positive traction.

BRAKES:

Good brakes, they are power assisted, it is disc in front and drums in the rear.

STEERING: The steering is good, the car is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES : Nice honey comb wheels with good tire, the tires are 225/70/15.

LIGHTS and wiring: The head lights work, the tail lights work the brake lights work, side markers work and the turn signals work.

THE speedometer is working, the gas gauge works, the parking brake is working, the tachometer is working, the horn is notworking.

GUAGES: The gas works, the temp and oil are old school and in a pod under the dash.

AIR CONDITIONING: It had a loose wire and was low on gas, we fixed it and it is now working, for how long I can't promise.

DOES THE CAR HAVE AND LEAKS? Have you ever seen a old car that will not leave a drop of oil on your nice clean floor! No leaks, but the car will leave some drops, I consider that a weep. Its just the way it is on old classic cars. There is nothing you have to fix, its something you will just have to live with if you want a old car. You can rebuild everything and it will be this way in a few months.

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? They open and close good for a Trans Am, they were not famous for good closing hoods and doors.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I DO NOT SHOW CARs ON SUNDAY>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 66 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for 43 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Kansas City area.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing, I list for 21 days. I listed this car as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. I consider this a good car, but its not a perfect show queen. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, they can make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and most are only concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT". I'm not worried about no or low feedbacks.

BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $13,999 and I'm asking more on the local market.  It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Mon, 20 Jun 2011

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
