1979 PONTIAC TRANS AM

VIN:  2W87W9N180036

TITLE: Clear Ohio title in hand.

HISTORY: Sorry, but I can't tell you a lot. I bought the car from car restoring friend that lives near Cincinnati, Ohio. He bought the car from a man in Cincinnati.

PHOTOS/PICTURES: Ebay Motors make it hard to find all the pictures, I do have more pictures listed, just scroll on the right side of the pictures and you will find more.

For your consideration I have a good looking 1979 Trans Am for sale. The 350 engine runs strong and sweet, the Turbo 350 automatic transmission shifts nice, the 10 bolt rear-end has no whines or growls, the tires are good, the wheels are snow-flake Pontiac wheels and are in good condition, no rust bubble in the paint, a couple of touched up chips and tiny defects (read more about paint under paint heading), the wipers work, the gauges work, the exhaust system is in good condition and has the Muscle Car sound, the air conditioning works, the interior has no real wear, but the front seats are faded, it is power steering, power brakes with disc in front and drums in the rear,  the decals are good, the headlights work, the turn signals work, the brake lights work. This is a nice car, its just no 100 point show car.

WILL I SELL OFF EBAY? Sure, I want to sell the car and I know lots of you don't have PayPal and ebay accounts.

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

Please! Please! Please! Read all my description and think it over. I want you to be happy when you come and inspect the car. The only guys I have a hard time satisfying imagine a perfect show car/new car at a bargain driver quality price. This is a nice/good looking car its just no roll out of the trailer 100 point show queen. If your looking for that perfect car you can find it, just get ready to roll a wheel barrel of money to buy it. My description will highlight the best and worst, please read and imagine. If your only buying from pictures you can be taken real fast, defects can melt away in pictures, cars can look cleaner than they really are. This is just a good looking car, that is a solid car and thing work on it.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for 44 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

Sorry, I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday.

Sorry, I do not do videos. I'm old and just don't enjoy doing them.

HAS THE CAR BEEN IN A ACCIDENT? I see no signs of accident damage, the frame looks straight, the sheet metal is not wrinkled up that I see, by law the title has to state it if the car has ever been in a bad accident and it does not.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS: I see no rust bubbles in the paint, no rusted holes on the underside, no replaced panels that I see. The underside is not undercoated so you can inspect good. It has rusty color, but looks very solid to me. I have not run a magnet on the car because I seen no bubbles and cracks.

IS IT A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR: I think so, but do not know for sure. I really don't worry about it, just so its the correct fit engine and transmission.

ENGINE: Good running engine, no knocks, no rattles, no bad oil leaks, "I will not guarantee you it won't leave a drop of oil on you wife's nice clean floor, its just a old car". Its a 350 cubic inch that has plenty of power for me.

EXHAUST: Stock manifolds with good pipes, it has a Muscle Car sound.

TRANSMISSION: Its a Turbo 350, that's a 3 speed automatic.

REAREND: Its a 10 bolt with a good highway gearing, no whines or growls.

BRAKES: Disc brakes in front, drum brakes in rear, they are power, the parking brake works.

STEERING: The car is power steering and drives good.

WHEELS AND TIRES: Good looking snow-flake wheels, the tires are good, but past owner put Dunlap on front and BF Goodrich on back.

AIR CONDISTIONING AND HEAT: They work, the air conditioning feels cold, but it is very cold here and hard to tell.

LIGHTS: The headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, the dome light works.

GAUGES; The gas gauge works, the temp works, the oil works, the speedometer works, the tachometer is working.

WIPERS WORK! CLOCK IS MOVING, BUT I WILL NOT GUARANTEE IT KEEPS GOOD TIME!

RADIO: Its a nice aftermarket with CD.

INTERIOR:  No bad smells, no real wear on the interior, the front seats are faded, they look blackish, the tan is faded, we cleaned them and they look the same, the headliner is good, but has a couple of scuffs, the dash pad is good, it only has 1 tin crack about a inch long.

DECALS: Nice and bright and not cracked up.

ONE OF THE PLASTIC GRILL INSERTS IS CRACKED, its in front down low.

PAINT: Good looking paint, the bronze color has a brilliant shine, no dents, no rust bubbles. Before you read all my paint description let me tell you my description is critical because you are not here to inspect and the little defects will not show up in pictures. The car has never had a deep buffing, we did go over it with a polish/cleaner, the paint has some specs and very tiny fish eyes in the clear coat.  The body is pretty straight , the only little waves I see are on the top of the drivers door. Its a good looking paint job, just not perfect.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.  Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

cell 423-506-8987                                 email: dreamcar@live.com

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

Transport US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport". They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Its good business for both of us the take a deposit. A $250 deposit locks it in for you! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors have to be very critical to cover their back sides. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: Sorry, but my price is $13,999 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

IS THERE A WARRANTY? No! Come inspect, judge and drive the vehicle all you want to because I do not offer a warranty on classic vehicles. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type, they are the way I see the vehicle. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected this vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to purchase based upon that judgment solely. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
