Up for bid is this very nice 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. This vehicle has recently had a frame off restoration. The engine and transmission are numbers matching with only 67356 original miles. During the frame off restoration, the body was removed from the frame and sand blasted and painted. the under-carriage was detailed with new body bushings, shocks, brake lines, and brakes replaced. The transmission was rebuilt and a b&m shift kit installed. The underside of this car is in very nice shape as well as the engine bay. The engine was removed and repainted, all seals and gaskets were replaced and a very mild cam was installed. Also, new timing chain and gears were installed along with new water pump, fuel pump, and a high volume oil pump. True dual exhaust with headers and flow master exhaust was professionally installed, the car sounds awesome!! The car really is in very nice shape. The interior looks very nice and original. The carpet has been replaced, the package tray and headliner are also new. The dash looks great. The paint is new and shines up very, very nice with only minor imperfections. All new weather stripping has been installed and even the key hole washers were replaced. This car is simply stunning as the pictures show. The car runs very well and shifts as it should. The engine is pretty much stock except for what I mentioned above, so if your looking for 300+ horse power, this is NOT the car for you. I wanted to keep it original, so the horse power is pretty much what the factory quotes. This car has recently won runner up twice and received first place once in its first three car shows, runner up in the 70's muscle car class and first in muscle car original. I have taken numerous pictures of the car and have explained it the best that I can. There really are no disappointment with this car. I did leave the hood bird off only out of personal preference. I do have the stock radio and even a NOS cb for that year Trans Am. I have several additional photos available if you'd like to see anything particular. I do have the car listed locally and may end the auction early in the event that it sells locally before auction ends. The reserve is set at a very reasonable price. The winning bidder is responsible for shipping however I will make myself available to assist. A deposit of $1000 is due immediately at auctions end and the remaining balance due within 3 days of auction ending. Good luck and happy bidding!! Please feel free to ask questions and request additional photos!!!

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
