1978 Pontiac Trans Am 400/4-speed WS-6 performance package
Complete, numbers matching car with 69,000 original miles. This car has been totally restored to a very high level with no expense spared. Car is documented by Pontiac Historical Services, which includes original factory invoice. Engine, transmission, and rear differential have been restored within less than 5,000 miles. Every part of this car has been addressed and has been either rebuilt or replaced if necessary.
Custom touches have been added to set this car apart from your run- of-the-mill Trans Am. These items include a complete striping kit from a 1977 Special Edition Trans Am which includes all gold emblems, gold dashboard bezel, NOS Special Edition steering wheel, and Special Edition gold bird center caps mounted on restored 15x8 WS6 honeycomb wheels with BF Goodrich 255 60 R15 tires, including spare. All chrome window moldings have been painted to match the car, just like a Special Edition Trans Am. Undercarriage, engine compartment, and trunk have been completely detailed. This is the first year for WS6 performance package and is one of 489 built that year. This figure was obtained via 78ta.com.  All parts used during restoration were either NOS or GM restoration parts, down to the spark plug wires.  Thanks for looking!

More history on the car; The car was sold new in Bellevue, Washington and has been a Oregon/Washington car all its life.  Options include: Usual Trans Am features and AM/FM stereo, Power windows, Tilt, Custom Trim group, Power Door locks, Rear defrost, deck lid release, Custom seat belts, Tinted glass, hood decal plus the desirable Trans Am Special Performance package which during production included the WS-6 suspension and the TA 6.6 Performance motor.  It also included the 3.42 ratio Posi.  The car was produced on 2/9/78 and invoice price was $6,444.59.

In the past 5 years the following has been completed:  The original 400 motor was rebuilt with slightly better camshaft, Ram Air exhaust manifolds with new complete exhaust system-magnaflow mufflers.  A Carburetor from another 1978 Trans Am was professionally rebuilt and the Super t-10 Transmission and clutch were replaced with a remanufactured unit in November 2008. The rear end and brakes were completely rebuilt with new axels and seals, new and correct interior, new tires with honeycomb rims that were professional restored, new suspension and finally a new complete paint job about 6 years ago.  The car is about as close to a frame-off restoration as it can get and is just about like new.  The only item that does not work is the clock-everything functions as it should and the car drives great!  Starts right up, has updated Pertronix ignition. This drives like a car should.  Windows, Door locks and Rear defrost work great.   The seats had new padding installed and feel and look

If you’re looking for a non-T-top Special high performance Trans Am, this is it!  It is exceptional in all areas and stands out with the right options.  No worry about leaking T-tops here and it is a much more solid ride without those tops.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
