1978 Pontiac Trans Am.  Was an original black on black with gold bandit decals. I have owned the car since 1998 and has been garage kept up until about 2 months ago.  The motor was rebuilt about 10 years ago and it has about 1,000 miles on it since then.  It has and had in it when I bought it a 1977 400 motor.  Not sure if this was a mistake at factory or if the previous owners did that.  The car was repainted also about 10 years ago a dark black cherry. The interior needs a new carpet, plus the drivers seat has tears in it.  other than that the interior is all original and no tears in the passenger or rear seat.. The car has a 4-spd. hurst shifter in it.  the air conditioner does not work.  It has power windows and door locks.  the dash has no cracks in it.  Have honeycomb wheels on it. which will need to be repainted.  my husband painted the inside of them black over the gold.   If you have any questions email and I will ask my husband.  the work was redone by him and the garage.  the car sounds and runs great.  needs more cosmetics done to it.  Who ever purchases the car will be responsible for picking up or shipping.  Would like to see the car go to someone who is going to finish fixing up.  wouldn't be selling, except I need to. I have the Pontiac history report on the car from the PHS automotive services, inc.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
