This car is a true "barn find" that I have owned about 15 years and have started restoring but now realize I cannot complete so its up for sale. It is a #'s matching original 455 engine "code WX block with 6H" heads. The block has been gone through at a machine shop and the rest of the engine is all there and needs to be gone through also. The bell housing and Z-bar are there but the Trans/shifter/clutch/flywheel are not. It has its original 3:23 POSI rear end. It has Firethorn interior with white deluxe interior which I believe to be original plus tilt wheel, power windows & an 8 track player in the console. The odometer shows 51,559. The headlamp panel & shaker have been painted and the fenders have been reconditioned plus an extra drivers door with a new skin all edged in black paint. 2 front bumpers are included along with a donor body shell bondo free quarters. Title is in my name in hand so ownership transfer is hassle free. Only 7009 of these 455 cars were produced so its well worth the effort to complete the restoration. There is much more and I will try to post more pics and feel free to ask questions. Parts alone are worth more than my starting price. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time if sold locally before end of auction. Thanks for looking!
On Oct-24-13 at 07:47:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Ebay will not allow any changes so I cannot remove "NO RESERVE" from the listing title. Sorry about the confusion. The reserve is very fair though so bid to own. |

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative
Tue, 29 Oct 2013How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
