I am listing this car for a friend. His contact information is at the bottom of this ad.

This all numbers matching, PHS documented Trans Am was built with the highly desirable combination of Lucerne blue paint and bright blue interior. It has been awarded Best Firebird at The Pontiac Southern Nationals, Best in class at the Pontiac Southern Nationals, Best in class at the American Pontiac Association show and has won too many other awards to list. Photos of this Trans Am were used by Trans Am Stripes.net in their advertising materials. Its history is known back to day one.

The car was sold new at Benafield Motor company in England, Arkansas. It has been an Arkansas and Texas car all of its life. It has traveled only 89,000 miles in its 43 plus years of existence.

This Trans Am was factory equipped with the Ram Air III 335 horsepower engine, M40 Turbo 400 automatic transmission, 3.31 Saf-T-Track rear end, D55 center console, A60 air conditioning, U63 push button radio with windshield antenna, U80 rear seat speaker, A01 Soft ray windshield glass on all windows, and B32 front floor mats.

This Trans Am has been extensively restored.

The mostly original, rust free body panels were stripped to bare metal, epoxy primered and treated to a two stage paint job using PPG products. NOS stripes were then installed.

The interior was restored to show condition using only correct materials. The original dash and console were restored by Just Dashes. New Legendary Interior upper door panels were installed.

The original engine was rebuilt, has great compression in all cylinders and runs very strong. The original transmission and rear end have also been rebuilt. This vehicle starts, runs, and drives like new. The A/C blows ice cold. All lights, electrical components, and everything else works, even the clock!

This Trans Am is:

1 of 3,196 Trans Ams built in 1970

1 of 1,084 produced in Lucerne blue

1 of 988 produced with air conditioning

1 0f 765 produced with air conditioning and automatic transmission

The block, heads, intake manifold, transmission, rear end and most other parts were born with this car!

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.
