Up for Auction is a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am.  Car was purchased in 2001 in West Texas. Very solid dry car. I purchased this car from the second owner. It was painted by the previous owner and done to a very high standard. The rest of the car was solid but unrestored. I drove the car for a few years to cruise night and racked up about 1500 miles. Over the past couple of years I have been working on carefully disassembling the car and restoring each individual system to match the very straight body and paint.

The car has a numbers matching motor and transmission to the vin. The rear end in date code and stamp code correct. Interior is very clean and complete.

The underside was cleaned and repainted the correct Red Epoxy primer with all stainless steel brake lines and correct colored clips. Gas tank was replaced and all of the front suspension was rebuilt. Front frame was removed, blasted and painted the correct color black and re-assembled. Front frame is the correct date coded original. Fuel lines are the originals and were shined up and clear coated. Rear end is the correct date coded (C110)12 bolt with 3.34 rear gears. Car still has the original rear drums and front rotors that are in perfect shape. The underside turned out as close to perfect as you can get. Rear end was opened up and inspected. All parts were in good shape. Posi works like brand new.

Transmission was disassembled and inspected. A new rebuild kit was used to freshen up the tranny  which consisted of bearings, syncros, roller bearings, needle bearings and complete gasket kit. it was then detailed and cleaned. All original GM gears.

Engine was taken out and inspected. Internals were in good shape. Forged TRW pistons and a balanced rotating assembly. Crank was polished, cylinders were re-honed and new moly rings installed along with new rods, main bearings, cam bearings and a complete TRW gasket kit with neoprene rear main seal to keep the engine sealed. Comp cams 268 was installed with the correct valve springs along with a new Comp cams timing chain. Date code of the Block is L299. Date code on the heads is A280. Date code on the intake is C120. Carburator is not correct. It is for a 1970 4 speed GTO non Ram Air. Carb was reuilt and replated to show condition and internals were set-up to Ram Air specifications.  Distributor seems to be correct. Couple of the last stamped numbers are so light you cannot read them but feel sure it is correct. Car still has the original Harrison radiator tanks for 4 speed. Was re-cored with an updated correct core.  The rest of the engine compartment was detailed and rebuilt as needed.

Interior is in mint shape. The dash is the original one that came with the car. Very nice condition with no cracks. Most of the interior plastic was dry rotted and was replaced with original GM plastic pieces. They were all professionally re-dyed correctly just as the factory did them. You won't see these peeling ever. The front seat foam was replaced and new seat cover were installed. The console is a replacement and looks very nice. The original did not come with the car when I bought it. The original seat belts were re-webbed and retractors cleaned and repaired by Ssnake-Oyl and operate smoothly. New carpet and rear deck panel was replaced. Headliner is sill the original and in perfect condition. Dash instruments are very nice originals and all work except for the clock. There is not radio or speakers in the car.  You will need to source if you want those items. 4 speed shifter is original chrome and shines like new. all linkage was detailed and mechanism was cleaned. Shifts smooth. All window regulators were cleaned and adjusted till the windows rool up and down very smoothly and with no sound. Still has a nice set of original window cranks. Chrome is nice but the buttons have turned a little yellow. All glass was repleced except for the original back window. In very nice shape with some small light scratches.

All the stainless and aluminum window trim was polished to show quality. Door handles are mint correct units. All GM weather stripping was used on the car. Air conditioning system was totally disassembled and cleaned. New o-ring seals installed with a new receiver drier and main hose assembly. Compressor was rebuilt and 5 ounces of correct R12 oil was added to the system. It was leak checked and passed. You can charge it up if you want it to work.

Wheels are not correct. They are date coded as 1973. They have been re-finished with NOS caps, correct new lug nuts and a new set of F-70 X 15 Good Year Polyglass tires. I do have the PHS documentation and a clear Texas Title. Paint work is show quality and has no chips. It was painted in 2000 with PPG base/clear in the correct color. Paint still looks amazing and you will have no issues with it as it was done correctly. Very solid body as a foundation. You know the paint is good if it has lasted this long without issues.

Look at the pictures and judge for yourself. I have taken some very detail pics of this car so there will be no mis-understandings. You will get exactly what is shown no more no less. If you want a picture of a certain area let me know and I will get it loaded on the web pics. Email me your phone number if you have questions and I will call you at my first opportunity. The car will be sold as is where is and the buyer will be responsable for shipping. I will help coordinate with the shipper for pick-up and can recommend shippers based on past experience.  I know I have left some details out due to all the work that was done. I will provide receipts of all the work that was done and the parts that were put on the car. You will get the PHS paperwork with the car. This is not a concourse perfect car but one step below that level. Very solid Mid level #2.  This car could be higher if your source some of the correct parts that are missing. The hard work has been done. Follow the link below and enjoy the pics.

Couple of things I missed.

The heads are the correct #12's. The tranny date code is P0C21A. Has all the correct casting numbers for 1970.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
