Chesapeake, Virginia, United States

Looking for a fun and fast car?  Then this is the car!!

This is a 2007 Pontiac Solstice that has a Mallett Conversion.  This is a one owner car.  The car was bought new in 2007 and sent directly to Berea, Ohio to Chuck Mallett, who was backed by GM to make these cars a 400 horsepower LS2.  That's putting all of the horsepower of a Corvette into a Solstice using genuine and official licensed GM products and making this little monster go 0-60 in 4.4 seconds.

The Mallett conversion on this car included:

GM 400 HP LS2 V8 Engine
Luk Pro Gold Clutch Assembly
Custom Modified Shock Absorbers
Corsa Stainless Steel Mufflers
Custom 2 Core Aluminum Radiator
Polyurethane Rear Arm Bushings and Differential Mount
Carbon Fiber Coil Covers, Aluminized Carbon Fiber
Mallett Body Graphics & Seat Embroidery
Mallett Custom Number Plaque & Badging
GXP Rear
2 Outlet Fascia Upgrade

This car was number 5 for the 2007 year.  This car is super clean.  Always kept in a climate controlled garage.  Has never seen a drop of rain.  Has never been smoked in.  Has never had a drink or food in it.  This car has never been in any accidents or had any problems.  This car has not been abused or tortured in any way.  Nothing has ever been replaced on this car with the exception of what Mallett changed and was backed by GM to do so.

There are 1,816 miles on this car, making it one of the lowest mileage Mallett Solstices there is, if not the lowest one.  Car has had regular oil changes.

Car is well documented with all paperwork, including but not limited to: purchase agreement from GM dealership when bought new, owners manual, pictures of car when bought new before being sent to Mallett, all Mallett paperwork for the car, pictures of car at Mallett's during the conversion, inspections, etc.

This car is meticulous.  This car is fast.  This car is not for the inexperienced driver.  This car is not for the average Joe who wants to own what everybody else owns.  If you want a clean Pontiac Solstice, if you want a low mileage car, if you want a car to add to a car collection, if you want a Mallet, if you want a well documented car, if you want a one owner car, if you want a Sly car, then this is the car for you!!

Please email with any and all questions.  ONLY serious inquiries.

Owner has the right to cancel auction at any time if car is being advertised outside of EBay and sells through another entity before the end of the EBay auction.  If this should happen, auction will be ended by owner and highest bidder will be notified immediately.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
