1968 Tempest Lemans. Blue with nice medium blue interior, except for one area on driver back. Non-original strong running 400 Chevrolet V-8, 4 speed, Hurst shifter and linkage. It's an original air conditioning car with dash and ducts, missing some components under hood such as compressor... wouldn't take much to have air working. Power steering, working tach, bucket seats (nice except area on drivers seat as shown in photo. New dash pad and carpets. New water pump, Blackjack headers, new Flowmaster mufflers and back tail pipes. New clutch, pressure plate and resurfaced flywheel. New brakes, new shocks, u joints replaced, new gas tank and sending unit. New hood insulation, new trunk mat. All new fluids. Chrome bumpers are exceptionally nice. Tires are good. Headliner still useable but showing age at seams. Radio, gauges work, speedometer cable stopped working recently. Window glass is nice. Bumper jack and spare included. Rear end ratio is unknown. Paint is presentable, but driver condition.

I have owned the car for about 5 years, it is registered and titled in my name and completely drivable. Not driven in winters. Car is 46 years old and sold as-is with no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied. In fairness to all, reserve will only be revealed when it is reached.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
