This is a great car, I get compliments every time I drive here. The prices of muscle cars have been soaring lately with people paying $5000 and up for cars that aren't even running. And I can see as where sometimes that might be a great starting point if you're going to do a frame-off restoration; however, most of us don't have the time or the money for that.

I'm selling my 1971 Pontiac LeMans with a reserve of less than that. The car is in good shape and I drive it whenever the weather is nice. The car is over 40 years old and hasn't had too much done to it in that time.

The car is amazing and you'll love it. I won't waste too much time going into detail on why it's so awesome but I will spend some time listing some of the things that add character.

Points of Interest
There are a few rust spots in the usually places.
The drivers side rear was hit while parked and fully repaired with new oem replacements parts; however, the paint is not a 100% match.
The windshield is cracked.
The leather bench is starting to split at some of the seems.
AC is there and has been converted, but I always rode with the windows down. It may need a charge or it may need more.
The 8 track was replaced with a cassette deck in the late 80's.
The leather at the c pillars is coming unglued.
2 tires will need replacing in 5000 or so miles.
The brakes need to be bled.
I would do a complete fluid flush, prior to driving her and great distances.

All in all a very solid and original car. I have done some minor upgrades:
New shocks
2 new tires
Bottom end rebuild
New aluminum intake
New distributor converted over from points
New Fan Clutch
New Gauge Cluster
New Thermostat
New radiator hoses
New Belts
New Battery
New Plugs/Wires
New Carb
New booster
New Grant Steering wheel
New Front-End Bushings/Polyurethane Suspension Kit
High Mileage Oil

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
