This is a running and driving car with a rebuilt 400, a Muncie 4 speed with factory console and a 3.55 posi rear end. It also has a factory tach and was originally red on red. The interior has been changed to black. I believe the car was originally a Sprint, as the VIN indicates a 6 cylinder, and the factory in-dash tach redlines at 6500. The body is very solid with nice floors. The trunk would need small patch panels by the wheel houses. It has a new gas tank. The previous owner purchased the car with no motor or trans and did a stock rebuild on a 400 that I believe he said came from a 70's Catalina. It has new pipes off of the stock manifolds that go into new Flowmaster style mufflers and end right there with no tailpipes. Most if not all parts you see missing from the pictures are included, except carpet and headliner. It has 4 wheel drum brakes that work pretty well, and no power brakes or power steering. If you win the auction, I will require $1000 down in my Paypal account within 48 hours and the balance due within 7 days, paid with a cashiers check or cash in person. No pickup or shipping until my bank says the money is good. I can assist in shipping. If you come to pick it up, bring a trailer. I don't think the turn signals or brake lights are operational.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
