1964 Pontiac Lemans 2 Door Hardtop 4 Speed Gto Parts 326 Ho Posi on 2040-cars
Jeffersonville, Indiana, United States
You're bidding on a '64 Lemans coupe. The body is very rusty, as is the frame. The car is equipped with the 326 HO engine (945W) rated at 280 HP (L-76) option code, with a single 4 barrel. The drivetrain appears to be original. The transmission is believed to be a Muncie M-20 wide ratio 4 speed and the rear end appears to be the original posi-trac. This appears to be how the car came from the factory, although I never ordered the PHS documents since it is basically a parts car. I bought the car several years ago with the hopes of rebuilding and using the complete drivetrain in a project '64 Lemans convertible, but it never materialized. I'll probably have the convertible in an auction soon. I have never had this car running and never attempted to even turn the engine over to see if it was free. Just count on the engine being stuck. The '64 only 4 speed shifter is still in the car attached to the linkage and transmission. I have a title for this car but it was never transferred to my name as I knew the body was too far gone to ever consider restoring it. The VIN & data plate are still in place. There is rust everywhere. All the glass is in good shape but the windshield has some bubbling around the edges. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Look at the pictures closely and ask questions before bidding. None of the tires hold air so it will need to be winched onto your trailer. A non-refundable $250 deposit will be required thru PayPal within 48 hours of the end of auction, with the remainder paid in cash when the car is picked up. |

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
