Daytona 500 Pacecar Edition '98 Pontiac Grand Prix Gtp Never Wrecked-runs Great! on 2040-cars
Birmingham, Alabama, United States
I'm the 3rd owner, with records back to 2004. This car has been well maintained by a trusted mechanic. Recent work includes new brakes, new front tires, rebuild intake manifold, and transmission maintenance. The transmission has only 40K miles on it (NOT a rebuild) and was specially constructed to be stronger than the original. The GTP edition has a supercharger, giving it great pickup. It has over 240 Hp. But it's hard into the corners, as you would expect a NASCAR vehicle to be. Not a good choice for an inexperienced driver because of the power. One of only 150 with FACTORY SUNROOF! NEVER WRECKED! Original paint & decals! The original stereo was replaced. Alpine speakers and a very clean Alpine Amplifier, connected to a Sony receiver. I bought door pins, a seat cover, new headlamps (replaced one, other in a box). There are minor issues, but this is a reliable well running vehicle right now. A sensor in the left front has failed, the power seat motor just went, small stuff. |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
