Offered for your consideration is this very rare and immaculate 1973 Silver Anniversary Pontiac Grand Am official NASCAR Safety Car with only 23,798 original miles. It is one of nine (see attached PHS records) 25th anniversary Silver addition NASCAR safety cars built in 1973. This awesome car was actually used in the North Wilkesboro race in 1973. When new this Grand Am was charged to the Pontiac Zone office in Daytona Beach and the State of Florida records NASCAR ownership when new.
This is a very cool Grand Am for a few reasons one being 73 is the first year for the Grand Am. Having direct ties to NASCAR racing makes this cars history very interesting especially since NASCAR originates back to the "Moon Shining" days that created America's need for speed and performance. This Pontiac was built by GM's Performance Division for NASCAR which makes it a very special hand built factory vehicle.
The way this classic machine runs and drives I believe even outweighs the cars looks. With all matching numbers this cars power plant is the Pontiac 6.5L V8 with the 3-speed automatic transmission. Original factory options, Air Conditioning, Power Disc Brakes, Dual Exhaust, and Special Suspension. Everything on this car works as it should. There isn't a blemish on this car inside or out and completely rust free.
All you need to do is win the auction, fly in, put the key in the ignition and truly enjoy the drive home...

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
