Up for auction is this all original Numbers Matching 1969 Ram Air III Factory 4 Speed Pontiac GTO. But what sets this car apart from other 69 GTO's is the fact that this is a Kellogg's Cereal Company Sweepstakes Giveaway car. It is one of two documented Kellogg's giveaway cars, the other being a 1969 GTO 400 2 Barrel Automatic car. I have the PHS Documentation to prove this along with all the original paperwork from Pontiac and Kellogg's to the original winners of the car. I also have the original Protecto Plate. I have a clear PA title in my name. All factory options that the car was built with are still there except the AM Push Button radio that was replaced with a period correct AM-FM 8 track. The cars options are as follows: Rally 2 wheels, Hood Tach, Rally Guages, Wood Grain Shift Knob, Remote drivers mirror, wood grain steering wheel, console, Tinted glass and rear seat speaker. This car's factory color is Crystal Turquoise with a Parchment Bucket seat interior, a very desirable color combination. This car will need to be restored but it is all there. The car just came out of long term storage, last on the road in 1987. I drained out the old gas and put five gallons of premium 93 in. In no time I had her running, don't run the best as I believe the carb needs rebuilt but there is no rapping or knocking noises coming from the engine. The matching numbers engine(WS Code L-74 366 Horsepower), transmission(M-20), rear axle(WH Code 3.55), carburetor(273), distributor(1111941) and starter(1108353) are all shown in pics. The original Ram Air air cleaner is also there. The engine still retains the factory cast iron headers. All the original reverse lockout components are still there along with the correct Hurst 4 speed shifter, these items were usually removed and replaced over the life of a car like this. All the rare and hard to find parts are there making this an easy restoration. I included pics of the trunk and floor pans, only needing minor restoration work. The frame is solid, I see no rot or repairs. I included many detailed pictures to show actual condition of the car. This is a car for the discriminating collector who wants something no one else has in their collection with the paperwork to back it up. Auction may end at anytime as vehicle is for sale locally. GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns
Thu, 15 May 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.
Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
