1969 real GTO with factory 4 speed 400 car. Car was Gold originally with the tan interior. The engine is a WT block which is a 1969 400 350 HP matched with a 4 Speed manual transmission. As far as I know the engine and transmission are believed to original to the car when it left the factory, as is the rear end. The car runs, but the Quadrajet carburetor might need rebuilt. The clutch is strong and so is the transmission. With a little TLC it could be driven daily. The interior is all there but has had a tan-to-black conversion begun. It needs seat covers at a minimum. The dash is reasonably nice and the instrument cluster is nice. Hurst 4 Speed shifter and console is original. This car has NEW tires! All sheet metal looks original on the car except the hood and the driver side fender, but I have the original drivers side fender. The car does need a new hood. The car comes with more sheet metal than needed to complete the body. Included are (2) full quarters, one fender, one original trunk lid off of a parts car, a full rear under the back window assembly. The car has some rust. The driver side quarter looks like could be just a patch job. The worst spots are around the back window at the bottom corner of either side. I have a full factory replacement panel cut from a donor car. The car came to me with no keys so I have it to where I can start the car without a key. I do have a new ignition and set of keys that just haven't been put on yet. Underneath the car seems reasonably rust free. The floors are solid and the frame is as well. This GTO is a great candidate for a restoration. I'd love to see this car returned to its original state, but I just don't have the time to get to this project. It is rare to find a factory 4 Speed GTO with an all original drivetrain that is this solid. Documentation and history for the car is impressive.

I can send you pictures of any numbers or parts that you need. Come hear it run. Brakes could use some attention. Call or text Jay at 405-550-2440 or 405-570-7191. Thanks for your interest.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
