1967 Pontiac GTO 2dr. H/T Street/Strip Drag Car. This car was basically a Street/Strip Drag Car its whole life. According to the past owner that had it for 40 years most of the miles on the odometer are from the car being flat towed to and from the track. The car was raced in New York & Ohio in the late 1960's and 1970's up until the middle 1980's. That is when the motor was blown and the car has sat ever since. The car was originally Atoll Blue with White bucket seat interior and no vinyl top. It was a No Power Steering, No Power Brakes straight line type of car. It has a full factory console in it, bucket seats and lots of vintage speed stuff including: Horstman Aluminum Cool Can, Hurst Short Shifter with Hurst Line Lock button, Sun fuel pressure gauge, SW Oil, Amp & Temp gauges, plus a Vintage Tach. This car has had one re-paint in the 80's in the same Atoll Blue. The motor in the car is believed to be the original motor (code WT) but has a piece of the cam missing so it is estimated that the motor has serious internal damage to it. The rest of the drive line was all working when the motor was blown in 1986 but it all has been sitting since then so I do not know the condition of any of it. The rearend spins freely. The code on the Muncie trans is: P0D21A, so I assume it is an M20. I have the drive shaft. I have a few other parts of the engine ie: starter, alternator, brackets, pulleys, cast iron intake, headers. I do not have the heads or the carb for this car. This car also has a driveshaft loop under it. The body on this car does have some rust in it. The trunk floor is completely gone, the rear window area is weak and has rust in it. The lower part of the body has rust in it. Also, the front lower windsheild has rust. The floors have a few holes in them that have been patched but will probably need to be replaced eventually. The hood has rust in the front lip. If you live in the Central Florida area and are interested in this car I would suggest that you come and look at the car for yourself. It is going to need a lot of work to get it back on the road (or strip) but it is fixable. This car would be really cool to restore it to the way it was raced in the late 60's and 70's. Most of the vintage speed equiptment is still with the car and it would be easy to restore back to that configuration. I have a lot of other pictures of this car on Photobucket. On Apr-26-14 at 19:36:07 PDT, seller added the following information: **** NOTICE ****** To answer a few of the questions I have gotten from some Ebay'ers about this car ...... I have the PHS documents to verify the car and the PHS will go to the high bidder of the car. The PHS states that it is/was a 400 4bar, M20 Muncie trans, 3.55 posi rearend, AM Radio, Console, Deluxe Wheel Discs, Clock, rear seat speaker ..... All ID tags on this car are still it there factory applied positions and are perfect. The car has a 1983 Ohio title which is open and states that at that time (1983) the car had 46228 miles on it. The speedo in the car now shows 48765 miles. Again, I don't have any way to prove it for sure but I believe that this car only has 48765 miles on it from new, as it has been a Drag Car most of its life and has been off of the road now since 1986. |

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
