Up for auction is this 1967 Pontiac GTO.  I inherited this car from its original owner who bought the car new from the dealership in Riverside California.  I have personally maintained this vehicle for the last 25+ years at my automotive repair business.  This car has spent the majority of its life in Arizona as the owner was a professor at the University of Arizona.  This vehicle is all original except for a front disc brake conversion and an exterior repaint done some time ago in the same factory color. The mileage on the odometer shows 29200k. I do not certify that that is the actual mileage, but I do know that the original owner did not drive this car as a daily driver.  The serial numbers on the block match the year and model, so to my knowledge it is a matching numbers vehicle.  It was stored under a car port for some time by the original owner and has consequently suffered some sun fade on the back lid of the trunk evidenced in the pictures.  The gto features all the original trim, interior and running train packages including.  power steering, air conditioning, 4 barrel carburetor, automatic transmission with his and hers shifter, 15 inch rally wheels with brand new bf Goodrich tires.  The car runs and drives beautifully only with about 200 miles in the last 10+ years of its life.  Other than that the pictures show the quality and beauty of this vehicle.  It is completely rust free and ready to go.  You wont find a more strait forward original gto in this condition or this price range.  This is a turn key gto that can be driven and enjoyed.  I have nothing to hide and will welcome any reasonable question regarding this vehicle.  I will not disclose my reserve price so please do not ask.  I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.  thank you for looking and good luck.  This is your chance to own a piece of muscle car history.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
