It is registered with Pontiac Historic Society. Phenomenal Arizona car, no rust body mounts were all replaced just two years ago. Runs and drives great. Does require work, the car was hit on the driver's side front quarter panel some time before I owned it. The replacement is not noticeable, but when driving the steering has some play due to the accident. Timing chain, water pump replaced due to a rotten housing. Replaced with a high flow pump. When the car was purchased the radiator was wrong so it has a brand new Be Cool aluminum radiator along with a Holley 750 double pump carburetor and an Edelbrock high rise manifold. I have the original carb and manifold to go with the car. Have a gander at the pictures the car will be listed for a week, should you have any questions please let me know. The car was originally purchased in Yuma, AZ and has never left the state until now!!!!!!"

You are bidding on a numbers matching, Arizona purchased, stored and housed 1966 Pontiac GTO.

The car is in good condition. It does need some items to bring her back to her glory days. I am her 14th owner from the original purchase in Yuma, AZ. The previous owner installed a Holley 750 double pump carburetor and an Edelbrock high rise manifold. After purchasing the car I discovered the radiator was a Chevrolet V-6 engine and did not have the needed cooling power to keep her cold in the Arizona heat. So out came the garbage radiator and in went a brand new Be Cool aluminum radiator. She runs great! Rumbles like the day she was born. I've had a fantastic time owning and operating her, it's time to pass her on to the next owner so she can continue to be enjoyed. The only major issue the car has is a pervious accident (despite my research I couldn't find a date) before my ownership. The car still sits and looks great, but on closer inspection it's noticeable that the frame was bent on the driver's side front quarter panel. Also her interior appears to be slightly mismatched and I was not able to bring it back to the original 1966 interior.

What you see is what you get, in addition I have the original carburetor and manifold should you choose to pull the 750 and high rise off.

I purchased the vehicle in Yuma, AZ, the same city her original owner bought her in. After spending almost 50 years of traveling around the desert environment of Arizona I pulled her out of that state and she's in an ENCLOSED storage in Connecticut. Should you want other information feel free to send me questions. She'll be listed for a week. Great car, she was a wonderful purchase. I enjoyed my time with her, but it's time for her to move to the next home for the history to continue!

The car has a CLEAR title, full payment will be expected within 10 days of auction close.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
