Perrysburg, Ohio, United States

1989 Pontiac WS6 Firebird Formula 350. The original engine was replaced two years ago with a LT1 from an early 90’s Corvette.(it has est.80,000 miles on it)  It has the dual catalytic converter exhaust with customized headers for adaptation of the LT1 engine. The tranny is automatic and was rebuilt by Cottman Trans. With insistence that they shim the clutch packs to make it the firmest shifting. The rear axle is the heavy duty one paired with all the V8’s.  The brakes have been replaced for heavy duty with drilled and slotted rotors. The wheels are the factory option aluminum Formula rims and are in very good condition.  The tires are brand new with less than 100 miles on them. The car has glass T-tops. The body was repainted and had the T-top gaskets replaced eight years ago. Other features are factory A/C, aftermarket AM/FM radio and CD player, power windows, door locks and trunk, tilt column with quick-ration steering.

There are some issues with the interior with the headliner, sun visor and upholstery consistent with an older car. The rear spoiler has degraded and a mount is loose.

More pics can be made available upon request.

Thanks for looking!

Additional comments:

I am adding inside pics that show a white preservative that was sprayed over the vinyl interior which looks bad in view but this will all clean off. There are issues with the cloth also, but with some TLC this can look much better.

This is specialty vehicle for an enthusist who wants to play with it. This is not a "go to work type car".

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
