For sale is a 1981 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 301 V8 4bbl automatic in good condition. It was in storage from 1999 until fall 2011. It was stored in a warehouse and the paint and body are in good condition. The car has just over 145,000 miles. However, the engine and transmission were rebuilt at just under 100,000 miles (so they both have less than 50k miles on them). The car was also repainted a couple of years before going into storage. Beginning in spring 2012 it underwent maintenance to get it up and running again. Work included: a new gas tank and fuel system, new plugs and wires, fluids, AC system upgraded to modern system, some break lines were replaced, break pads replaced, exterior door window trim replaced, interior door pulls replaced and general updating. The car has been driven regularly since August and runs very well. Options such as power windows, AC, and cruise control make this good as a daily driver or for fun. It also has a later model AM/FM Cassette that I have been able to play my iPad through.

Some work left to do to restore the car includes: fine tuning of the engine, minor rust repair to upper body panels (both door bottoms), replace radiator mount and rear body mount due to rust, replace front bottom vinyl seat covers, replace front grill trim, replace dome light cover, replace interior console hinges, repair wiper spray, and general aesthetic improvements as desired by you. I recently made some repairs to the driver side door bottom by installing a fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin to reduce noise. I'll also include the original rear window louver, which will need to be straightened, as well as a set of used rear wheel flares that I have not yet installed on the car.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
