1973 Firebird Formula for sale by private owner.  This is a very nice restoration of an original rust free car from Texas.   The original color was code 74 (Florentine Red), and it has been repainted the factory color with base coat/clear coat.   The pictures will speak for the paint job; it is professionally done.   There are no issues with rust or bubbling of paint.  The trim code is 247; deluxe oxblood vinyl.   The color combination is very striking; gets lots of attention at any cruise- in or car show.   The Formula drives just as good as it looks; factory air and a nice stereo compliment the ride.

This is a Formula 350 and it still has the original engine in the car.   The current mileage is 64,991; but due to reviewing previous service records, I believe the Firebird has rolled over to 164,991.  The engine was pulled and had a complete rebuild in May of 2006; it performs very well with no issues. This was done around the 150,000 mile mark.  Please note the orignallity of the air cleaner and fresh air intake for the car.  New brakes, mufflers, heater core, shocks, etc. were also done is this time period.   American Racing Torque Thrusts are currently on the car; 16's on the front and 17's on the rear.   A real nice combination against the paint color.  Everthing works on the car; we drive it locally and to the visit our children.

Although the interior was in pretty good shape, I chose to improve on it by lining the floors with Dynamat, replace the carpet; replace a reproduction console with a real one, and install Legenday seat covers.   I have several pictures that show the work.  It is a manual window car; the seat belts are all there and functional, and the radio is a modern unit that was professionally installed in the stock location.  The drivers side window had a nasty scratch; I replaced it with a new one.

This is the real deal, Formula Firebird; 1973 is one of the most desirable and the most valuable years.   Please feel free to call me with any questions or set up a time to inspect and drive the car.   But, please do this before the bid ends, you will be bidding to buy.     Randy    770/634-3093

I would like to answer a couple of common questions that were asked.   The bottom of the car has no rust; in fact, the undercoating is still present and in good shape (picture added).  I have also added pictures of the trunk; one with the original mat and one showing the clean and rust free floor.   The way to check for the original block in this car is to look for the VIN stamped into the lower front of the block.  The number is on the block; it is very clear and matches the VIN of the car.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
