This is a great opportunity for someone to get an amazing and rare car at a very good price. As you can see from the pictures, the body and engine are in very good condition. The interior has been updated as well but there is a crack in the dash. I have added new headers and exhaust with x-pipes and a one of kind dual muffler with straight through design for maximum exhaust flow (sounds great!). I have also put a new Edelbrock high capacity fuel pump and a Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor. There are a few things I planned to do and I will list them here in the "the bad" section. You can drive the car without these things done but I'm sure you would want to finish these items as well:

The good:

Customer paint job painted by an employee at Hot Rod Magazine
No rust!! Panels have been replaced or completely treated
Brand new headers and exhaust
Brand new 4 barrel carburetor
Brand new fuel pump.
Beautiful 18" chrome spoke wheels with Falken tires (90% tread left)
This car looks bad ass!

Parts that come with the car:
Pontiac 6X virgin heads!
160 MPH speedometer (standard speedometer for the 71)
Lots of other stuff!

The bad: (not really that bad!)

Small crack on dash
No radio in the car (easy to install)
Speedometer is the wrong speedometer for that year is installed and needs to be replaced (I have the correct replacement speedometer - 160 MPH)
Both passenger and driver windows roll up and down very slow, windows are also scratched which is a common problem...

Bottom line its not going to take much to fix this to be a show winner. It looks great, get looks EVERYWHERE you go!!!

Lastly, do not ask me to end the auction early and PLEASE don't bid if you don't have the money on you now!

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
