You are considering this fully restored 68 Firebird. This car was completely stripped and the front clip removed from the uni-body. You can call it a frame off restoration.  Car was purchased August 7, 2005 and underwent a 2 year restoration.  The first show was an indoor autorama in which it received a Best of the Best Award.  It has also received Best Firebird and  2nd place in a POCI regional event.  not to mention over 30 trophies from various car shows and cruises.

Car was born as a straight 6 with only 5  luxury options.  Vinyl Top, Deluxe Interior, Floor Console, Radio and automatic Transmission.  This is a non-matching numbers Firebird.  Actual mileage is 123, 212 it has rolled over.

Rebuilt 400 motor bored 30 over with a ram air III grind on the camshaft.  Turbo 400 Tranny  non posi rear.

PHS Documented for verification purposes.  Over 120 photos of restoration process.  Almost every metal skin has been replaced.   90% of receipts available.

I have a written appraisal on the vehicle for $30,000, and it was deemed a 1.5 condition.  The Factory correct color change prevented a rating of 1. The Silver was available as a special order for 1968.   The Deluxe interior was also changed to a factory correct color for the 1968 model year.

Flawless Silver Paint  with Deluxe Red Interior creates a striking color combination.

New roof skin, both FULL rear quarters including both inner and outer wheel wells in rear. Both front fenders are new, as are the front inner fender wells.  New passenger door,  lower rocker panel skins.  New rear package tray and new front windshield to cowl panel. Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
