Beautiful 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula
One of less then 200 made in Talbot Yellow

I have owned this car for a few years now. I have too many collector cars and Fieros and this one needs to go. It needs to be driven and enjoyed by someone not just sitting around and driven 100 miles a year! The car runs and drives great, drive it home!!

The car is an original yellow car with mostly original paint. Parts of the car have been repainted but the body looks nice with no damage and the paint is nice and glossy. All if the major body panels have the original VIN stickers!

The glass and trim are in excellent condition. Original LOF windshield with good tint! This is obviously a car that has been garage kept!

The engine has recently undergone a major tune up and re seal. The clutch has been replaced.

The tires are older but have plenty of tread and are all the same brand and correct sizes

The interior is excellent! New headliner and mint original seats! NOS steering wheel installed! Original gray floor mats impossible to find! The dash has no cracks! Correct am/fm cassette radio!

New Parts:

New high performance accell fuel injectors $300, the car starts on a dime!

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, water pump, clutch and pressure plate, motor mounts, throw out bearing, engine gaskets -valve cover, intake, oil pan, etc. , new fluids oil, trans oil, and antifreeze

Urethane sway bar end links front and rear, urethane dog bone mount.

New 180 thermostat, and  low temp fan switch

Needs, issues, concerns.:

Head light pins installed (common problem) parts are under $20 some times both headlights work, sometimes just one side
RH lower ball joint  is loose over bumps
AC needs to be charged
Possibly tires down the road if you plan on driving it a lot
The idle is a little erratic when the car is cold but it always levels out to 900 rpm at operating temperature. The car just needs to be driven, it sits a lot for long periods of time.

I have tried to describe this car the best I can. It's very nice original car, very rare and needs to be driven and enjoyed! If you have any questions, would like to view the car or would like to make a cash offer please call 815 521 9566. Thank you for your interest.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
