Up for bids is an 87 Fiero chassis with title for GT conversion, parts car, or other project. There is no engine or engine harness. This Fiero was converted into an electric car and all electrical components removed. The electric motor connected to the tranny in the pictures will not be included. I kept it connected so I can push the car around. The existing transmission is a 4-speed manual that was from an older Fiero. The 4-speed shifter cables are new and I also have the original 5-speed shifter. I also have the gas tank and radiator that are not installed on the car. I have a complete front suspension, engine cradle, and other suspension components if wanted. The interior is in really good shape and the headliner is new. All the lights work and the headlights go up and down quickly. The rear brakes and calipers are new as are the axles. The e-brake functions very well which is important on an electric car. The windows however go up and down very slowly. The electric locks do not work but I will include the new lock motors that were purchased to replace them. The roof was cracked by the previous owner and I added some fiberglass resin to make it water tight but needs sanded flush. The bottom of the trunk floor was removed for batteries. The trunk key was recently broke off in the trunk lock. I also have the original rear spoiler. Vehicle is to be picked up in Charlotte NC and is being sold as-is with no warrantee expressed or implied. I am also selling the car locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)

According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
