This is a very cool old custom that will not break the bank but will still get a lot of looks and thumbs up. It is not a show car or a Barrett Jackson car. Just a solid and dependable driver. Body is very solid. No signs of panel replacements. Floor boards and trunk pan are solid. Paint is above driver quality, but not show quality. There are some minor defects from road use that the pics will not show. Same with the chrome. Most is better than driver but not show, although there is some new chrome. Has an early 50's Buick grille. Frenched tail lights. Interior is super nice. No heat or A/C. Tires are like new radial wide whites. All lights work. Gauges all work. Cadillac tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Has a Camaro front clip and 10 bolt Chevy rear end with highway gears. Power steering and power disc brakes. Engine is basically a stock 350 Chevrolet 4 barrel V-8. Starts right up every time and runs out great. No leaks. Trans is a 4 speed overdrive GM automatic. Shifts great. No leaks. This car is a great cruiser that drives very good. It is very dependable. Cool stance. Smooth ride. Nice lines. Personally, if I kept it, I would probably flame it with red, white, and a touch of yellow flames to really make it pop. It is not. The interior cloth color is the same throughout. The picture of the rear seat has the most accurate depiction of the actual color of the whole interior. Funny what lighting and a camera can do to distort the real colors. The blue exterior paint color is pretty spot on. |

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
