A classic 1965 Pontiac Bonneville convertible in excellent condition.  Excellent white exterior with stunning red/maroon interior including original factory console and automatic floor shifter.  I've watched these cars come and go on
Ebay listings and through the pages of Hemmings and very few have ALL of the following in one package - factory bucket seats, factory console and floor shifter,  factory console mounted vacuum gauge, factory dash mounted Pontiac tachometer,   factory eight lug wheels (8 lug changing tool included - see picture), factory air conditioning (works!), the radio is original factory AM with working REVERB, power steering, power brakes, power white top (works effortlessly).  It has the original 389 engine with Edlebrock 4V carb (original AC breather included - see picture).  Runs and drives beautifully and strong on new tires.  Honestly, this is one of those cars that when you meet it, you'll say "Hey, this is better than the pictures and description" - and that doesn't happen very often.  I've been on both sides of that event.
The car just turned over 100K miles this summer with limited driving and over the years I have maintenanced as needed or as desired.  It has new dual exhaust and complete front end (ball joints, bushings, link rods, etc) It has been to Cruisin The Coast a couple of times and various car shows.  I bought the car showing 97K out of a collection in 2007 so I would technically be the third owner  This collector found and bought the car from the original owner in Kansas and freshened the engine with new gaskets and very mild Comp Cam.
I have a connection with a custom hauler specializing in classics and can arrange very reasonable and dependable shipping.  Email me for any details or questions (109settle@gmail.com).

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
