1971 Plymouth Roadrunner 383 orig CA car - Real 'Butterscotch' car (EL5 - Bahama Yellow) - A/C

8 3/4 Rear end w/3:23 Sure-Grip, 727 Torqueflite transmission, Heavy Duty Suspension pkg w/front Sway bar, Power Steering, Power Disc front Brakes, Rallye dash, Hood-mounted turn signals, 3-vent Air Conditioning, EL5 Bahama Yellow paint (RARE!), Two-Tone Saddle Interior (RARE!).

Very clean car just brought back from the West Coast, spent some time in Oregon, last registered in CA in 2009, still has CA plates on it.  Very rare combination of Bahama Yellow paint (better known as 'Butterscotch') w/two tone saddle brown interior.  It is a bench seat/column shift Roadrunner - however, I have for sale separately (not included in this auction, but pictured in last picture here) - a set of B-body bucket seats (need recovered)/rear seats near perfect (may want to dye them)/the 'hump' with slap stick base and linkage to make floor shift/floor shift console (just so happens to be in two-tone brown!).....I also have a 'buddy seat' if someone wanted to keep it column shift but make it a bucket seat car.  So, make it buckets & slap stik - or buckets w/a buddy.  Again, these are NOT included in the auction, but certainly will be available for sale separately.  The original bench seat is in the Roadrunner and needing recovered - has seatcovers on right now.  The rear seats have a tear in the base and tears in the top.

The door panels are in pretty decent shape (great for a driver, not for restored).  Carpet is fair, with some rips in the rear DR side footwell area.  Dash is nice, unfortunately suffered a cut-out for the 1986 cassette player still there.  Needs a headliner, but all bows are there.

Frame, trunkpan & floor pans are near mint.  Floorpans retain original Butterscotch paint - some areas of surface rust under the jute pad - NOT rotted!  Trunk pan and extensions are solid as a rock - trunk retains original paint, a previous owner sprayed POR-15 only on the floor area - no repairs.  Frame is solid, straight and dry - some areas have original paint areas and some have the original undercoating.  The underneath is as clean as you would expect a CA car to be.

The body is solid and has all original metal - very amateur spot repairs and amateur overall re-paint in what looks to be a Tan Gold Poly metallic, which is a few shades off of Bahama Yellow.  The gold metallic in the paint really popped out in the photos I took with my cellphone - makes it look really gold in photos.  Has a tan hue in person.  There are plenty of soft door dings - (seen at an angle down the side of the car).  This Roadrunner turns a lot of heads and you could probably label it the 10-15-20 footer car, but I am not sure what would be accurate.  Make no mistakes about it, it should be redone at some point - very amateur body and paint.  Solid canvas and prime for a professional to do it - or just DRIVE IT and enjoy!

The bumpers will need re-chromed - they have lost most of their finish.  The stainless trim is very nice and straight.  The A/C is complete under hood - blower motor works, but there is no charge in the system.

Date correct Big block motor starts right up without hesitation and sounds very good - appears to be stock except for Edelbrock intake and Holley carb.  Trans shifts good.  Brakes work pretty good.  Exhaust leak at manifold collectors, but rest of the 'H' pipe exhaust is tight and solid with turn-downs at axle.  No fluid leaks.  However, before making any long trips or daily driving, I would suggest going through things as it has been off the road since 08/09. 

Rare 14" Weld Draglites in front, and 15" Draglite-style wheels in rear.  Matching RWL tires all around - 245/60/15 rear, 235/60/14 fronts.  Engine compartment is clean with some surface rust on underside of hood, the rest of the engine compartment is 'scotch-briteable'.  Original 'pie-pan' Dual-snorkel air cleaner still there, original 'beep-beep' horn still there.  Pretty good example of a complete and clean West coast car that is pretty honest and 'un-molested' except for the amateur body and paint work.  The only things known missing are the wheel lip mouldings that the broadcast sheet says it came with, the original Rallye wheels, and the plastic door lock tops.  Red top Optima battery.

The best part is that the fender tag is still there, a near-mint Broadcast sheet (as well as the 2nd broadcast sheet, but that is in pieces), a body and paint spec sheet sheet from the factory that they tuck in the headliner.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff, please feel free to ask intelligent questions.  Please refrain from asking what's the lowest I will take without asking anything about the car - that is NOT the actions of a serious buyer.  This is a great opportunity for someone who will give her a professional paint job and button-up the interior.  This is much more than a starter car, but the reserve is set at starter car price point.  Get a real Big-block Roadrunner from CA at a very reasonable price that you can drive and enjoy now and have a high dollar bird investment on the other side should you re-do it.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
