1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Wedge on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:37000
Location:

Westwood, New Jersey, United States

Westwood, New Jersey, United States

The compression was checked and all cyls. are 150-160 P.S.I. with engine cold. The engine oil, filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs were replaced. The ignition system is transistorized. The transmission and differential fluid levels were checked, radiator reconditioned. The engine starts with no problem or abnormal noises. The master cyl. was replaced to eliminate sinking of the brake pedal. The car was driven about 10 miles by me with no drive train concerns, all operate normally.
The interior is in very good condition, all seats, door panels, dash and center console are all intact with no damage. The front door armrests are with the car and have to be recovered.  The bezel around the speedometer and gauges is missing. The carpeting is good but faded slightly. the headliner is hanging down.
The body, is straight as could be, all moldings and bumper are intact and in excellent condition other than needing some restoration if desired. The entire frame and underbody is straight and rot free with no signs of previous repairs or accidents.
The roof has a minor dent at right front area, there is surface rust on areas of the body. The body near the lower right corner of the rear windshield has a small hole the size of the lead in a pencil, that has allowed water into the trunk and has created a rusted area about 6"x6" on the trunk floor the rest of the floor and seams in trunk look fine. The front windshield cowl was removed to check for rust this area is rust free. The rear lower corners of the front fenders are just starting to show signs of rust starting. The lower sections of both rear qtr. panels are rusty.
This car appears to have been garaged and well maintained most of the time. This is a great car to clean up, do very little mechanical work and enjoy. To the best of my knowledge this is a true numbers matching car. Please feel free to come inspect car or ask questions I will answer them. SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
