Amazing comes to mind the first time you lay eyes on this 1963 Plymouth Fury Convertible! This Fury looks as good as it runs.

In the dish is a Sony Xplod theft-proof AM/FM CD Player with new Sony speakers tastefully mounted behind the factory dash speaker grills. All gages and instrumentation operate properly. All knobs have been restored, along with the steering wheel and steering wheel bezel. The interior in this Fury practically begs you to hop in and cruise!

The drive-train in the Fury is impressive. Lurking under the hood is a 1967 HP 440 engine, complete with Max Wedge heads & valve covers, covered with a cross ram manifold, with Dual Holley 770 carburetors. Doug's Tri-Y stainless steel headers allow the Fury to explode with a real attitude when the ignition key is turned. The engine is finely tuned and sounds and runs perfectly. Mated to the high performance 440 is a newly rebuilt A833 4 speed transmission, which operates as new. Present in the rear is a Dana 60 positraction axle, with a 3.55 gear. The 4 wheel drum braking system on this Fury is completely rebuilt with new lines and components. As well, the fuel delivery system is completely rebuilt, with new stainless steel lines. The Fury has new shocks at all four corners, and the front end has been newly rebuilt. In the trunk is a correct jack and proper spare tire with hold down, all correct trunk panels and a new trunk mat.

As nice as the interior and drive train are on this Fury, it's the body and paint that do it for me. The body on this Fury is absolutely straight, with very nice panel gaps everywhere. The medium blue paint is show quality, with no orange peel, scratches, ding, dents or chips anywhere. The door jambs, trunk jambs, trunk underside, hood underside and engine compartment are just as nice as the rest of the car. Every single piece of stainless steel trim has been redone, including the body side moldings with painted inserts, and every single piece is perfect. The grill, headlight bezels and tail panel molding are all perfectly restored. Every lens has been replaced with NOS and is perfect. All exterior chrome has been expertly redone, including the bumpers, tail light bezels, hood letters, trunk letters, door handles, and body emblems. This Fury glistens and sparkles from every angle! All glass is original, and in excellent condition. Power gets to the ground via 15" American Racing Products classic five spoke wheels, with B F Goodrich Radial T/As all the way around, P275/70R15s up front, and P275/60R15s in the rear.

Quick question ... when's the last time you saw a 1963 Plymouth Fury Convertible that could win any show you took it to? And if have seen one, when's the last time you've seen one with a built 440 + 4 speed + Dana 60? This is a super cool car for the Mopar fan who wants a car that looks bad, sounds bad, but can be cruised, shown and enjoyed on any day, in any kind of event. If you've tired of over-restored trailer queens, and want a real Mopar which can be taken to the street and enjoyed for years on end, this is your car!

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
