Up for sale is a 1974 Plymouth Duster with a 1970 front end on it.  This is a very solid start to a fun hot rod project.  Just don't have time to mess with it anymore.  The car is equipped with a 225 C.I. Slant 6 engine and a 3 speed manual transmission.  It has 4 wheel drum brakes with a 7 1/4" rear end under it.  It is a manual steering, manual brake car that is very solid.  The floors and trunk are super solid.  One patch was installed under the driver's seat and the passenger rear quarter needs a lower patch panel installed behind the wheel well.  It has bucket seats, new carpet, door panels were dyed black, new style headliner, new fuel sending unit, new radiator.  All gauges work as they should.  It has a factory dual snorkel scoop on it as well.  Side marker lights need the lenses replaced.  We put this car together to have something to go to the cruises in and have only driven it a couple times. Would rather sell to someone who will use it than watch it sit in the shop and never move.  The hub caps and fuel cap are not included as they are not mine.  Will be sold with a normal fuel cap and no hub caps on the wheels.

I do have a lot of spare parts that will be available separately for the winning bidder.  Big bolt pattern disc brakes, 8 1/4" rear end, V8 k-frame, '70 tail panel and lights if someone wanted to finish the conversion, Big bolt pattern steel wheels, lots of trim and odds and ends as well.  Vehicle sold "AS IS" with no warranty.  Clear KS title to the winning bidder.  Thank you.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
