1973 Plymouth Cuda

Car started life as a 383 built in Hamtramck, MI

This Cuda was built to be a fun car to drive to car shows and cruise ins.  The body and styling are very 80’s. A lot of the work and restoration were done in the late 80s. As you can see from the photos I have tons of receipts for mostly all of the work done to this car.  I can’t tell exactly when the body work and paint was done, but it was done right. The paint looks excellent and is in great shape. The roses on the quarter glass are etched into the glass, very nicely done.  Everything works as it should with this car. Lights, brakes, power steering, gauges all work.  I have the factory hood for the car painted the correct maroon color, it does not have a hole cut out for the blower.

As for the interior, there are a few gauges in the car. Auto Meter water Temp, and Oil Pressure gauges mounted in the perfect spot under the dash next to the center console. Auto Meter Tach with shift light on top of the column. Fuel level gauge mounted in the center console for the fuel cell.  Toggle switch on the dash is for the electric fans that powers off with the ignition.  Bell Latch style lap belts. Radio isn’t anything special but works and FM reception is good. Overall the interior is in great shape. The front seats are comfortable and in excellent shape. The rear seats are in good shape as well. The package tray has been refinished and holds 2 aftermarket speakers. The headliner is also in good shape with no tears or sagging. The dash shows no problems or cracking, warping, or discoloring. The trunk holds the 10 gallon fuel cell, 20lb nitrous tank with gauge, battery, and fire extinguisher. The front and Rear bumpers are in good shape and show no signs of the chrome pitting or rusting.

The Engine is a 360 with a 671 Hampton supercharger. It has two Holley 750 Carbs, the bodies of the carbs were powder coated red and all other parts were chromed. There is a lot of chrome bits and pieces everywhere under the hood. There was an extreme amount of attention to detail when this car went together.  Most of the bolts and nuts under the hood have chrome or brass caps on them and wires are loomed and routed properly and neatly. The Hood hinges are chrome, the intake manifold is polished aluminum, the alternator is chrome, pulleys are chrome.

The Nitrous plate kit was installed by someone who obviously knew what they were doing. All the lines are bent perfectly and are a beautiful sight. I was told when we got the car it had a 100 shot of nitrous. It has always been more of a show piece for us and we have not used the nitrous. There is a toggle switch in the center console with the fuel level gauge that is for the nitrous.

The trans is a 727 automatic with slap stick shifter, it seems to have a little larger stall, Im thinking around the 3k range. The rear end is an 8-3/4, not sure what gear it is. The power steering is very smooth and the car runs well. It is not a handful to drive like I had first imagined it would be. It is a very easy car to drive and enjoy. Being in FL the only thing it needs is AC. This Cuda is a real step back in time. A lot of older hot rods have been torn down and resto modded for todays constantly changing trends, and that is what makes this car so cool, It is old school hot rodding at its best!

I know I have forgot some things. Please ask any questions you may have.  The car is for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. I welcome and encourage any one to come see the car before the auction ends.

Please do not bid unless you intend to buy. Thank you!

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
