For sale is a 1971 plymouth satellite that was running and driving a few days ago when the previous owner pulled the 440 engine for another car. Factory 'N' code 383 big block car. I saw the car running around town before I bought it, and the Heddman Super competition headers made it sound great! Though the engine is gone, it has a fresh 727 with 2200 stall converter, cheetah manual valve body, factory driveshaft 8 3/4 rearend with 3:23 gears, front/rear swaybars, ladder bars, new windshield, 3spd wiper, auto console (small piece broke by shifter, have the piece), bucket seats, disc brakes, tight power steering, 26in radiator/shroud, 150 speedo Rallye gauges, rebuilt/new parts on front suspension, is almost rust free too, just a little bit in window corners, clean floors, quarters, rails, body too. I removed the bucket seats so you can see how clean the floors are. Bucket seats are needing new foam and covers, but the tracks, backs and frames are in very nice condition. Red seat, door panel tops, headliner and sunvisors are also nice. Was missing lower door panels, but I have a pair from another car with speaker holes. Front carpet is missing, so I pulled the seats to show how nice the floors are. Will need a driver side fender, pass fender is fixable. Clean pink. Will need engine and missing gas tank (guy was running a fuel cell, but has a mint trunk pan). All body numbers match, but missing fender tag. Was originally a 'Tor Red' car. Someone started to paint it black, then black flat for that sinister look. All lights work, though it had a push button start. He had a local shop redo the electronics. Someone installed 1972 rear bumper but should swap out easily. Car has 15in steel wheels on it, so wheels in the pictures are not included. Also comes with Headman Headers, duel exhaust.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
